Today received Notice that Acknowledgement of Service Has Been Filed. This was filed by London solicitors acting for Jet2 indicating an intention to defend all of the claim. Defence awaited with great interest.
Can't help wondering about Jet2's customer service and financial philosophy when they would rather pay London solicitors fees than compensation to an unhappy customer.
Further update to follow on receipt of Defence, or in it's absence, when Application for Judgement is made.

did you do it online (mcol?) or via the small claims court?

What is the process? have you served a writ and awaiting their response?
MCOL submission, jet2 acknowledged then had a further 14 days to submit a defecne which they did at the last possible minute.
Case now transfered to my local CC and awaiting hearing date and/or case managment/direction.

My thoughts entirely. It must have cost more than £420 they owe me for the solicitors to look at and take on the case, with further costs to follow, which they can't claim off me even if I loose (except under "exceptional circumstances" ;)
    Bizarre

Not only that, but settling out of court allows them to keep following the 'fob off all claims' route.
Once they have a few judgements against them, then further defences become more futile.
So not the best business decision IMO.
Quite possibly an out of court offer will be made on the day of the hearing.
Which is harder to enforce if they don't pay up btw.

Excellent point re; enforcement, thanks. If I get an offer on the day of the hearing I'll take cash only or have any offer approved by the Judge.

I've had a 'we will reply as and when as we respond to correspondence in date order' type letter back from Jet 2. How long have ppl had to wait for a proper response from them after initial contact?

    Don't hold your breathe.
You will receive a response in about 2-3 weeks and it will say that the flight delay was caused by extraordinary circumstances, more specifically a flight safety shortcoming and for this reason compensation is not due.

I waited 60 days and got no response at all. Defence is a very weak claim of EC wich will crumble.
