Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Jet2.com ONLY

So we have today received a the 3rd reply to our letter, requesting further info on the fault.
" The aircraft due to operate your flight was unable to do so due to a pressurisation issue caused by a Air Cycle Machine fault. The part was fitted to the aircraft in march 2010 and would not have been expected to fail after only 3mths, our records show that we could expect the part to last at least 8 yrs. As the fault occurred far earlier than what could have been anticipated and the defect occurred mid flight, this constitutes an extraordinary circumstance. As the aircraft was out of service, we sourced the next available aircraft and operated the flight asap to minimise disruption.
I have reviewed your claim and regret no compensation is due"
Thoughts anyone?Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -
Hi All
I have today received a reply from Jet2 stating that my flight on 9th July 2011 flight number LS748 was only delayed for 37 mins therefore I am not entitled to any money. I have looked at flightstats website and I cannot find it.
However, I know we were delayed for longer as we were given a food voucher from Jet2, is there anyway I can pursue this?
Any advice would be appreciated.

northwest - i think you still have a case. Jet2 should be concerned that a part that is expected to last 8 years, only last 3 months? Either they are misinformed or misinforming you.
Why did this part fail prematurely, by some considerable margin?
Jet2 are going to have to very careful in what they say given the age of their fleet. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

We completed the MCOL form 2 days before this letter came. Will keep you informed.
Seems to have gone very quiet on here, I presume lots were not willing to proceed beyond the letters?Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -
Or just sat in limbo awaiting court case management directions/dates possibly? Maybe when we get a few wins, the numbers will pick up?If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

I think it has only gone quiet because the court process takes a little time. In my case, Notice of Issue received showing date of service deemed to be today. Watch this space!0

How much correspondence back and forth between Jet2 did people have before taking it to the next level? And how long did people have to wait for letters? I’m still waiting for the initial response, they wrote to say they work through them chronologically so couldn’t give an exact time scale.
I’m already writing my response to their standard ‘exceptional circumstances’ letter which I expect to get! But our flight took off (only 1 hour late) even after telling us there was an engine problem and we had to go back resulting in a 9 hour delay, I think if it was ‘exceptional’ they shouldn’t have taken off in the first place!
Does anyone know if anyone has been successful with Jet2 yet?
(As a side note, I love the Alert Newbie notice...!)0 -

Foss - my delay 12/2/11, wrote 28/2/11, fobbed. reissued claim Nov 2012. Received 3 similar letters all requesting the same information I had given right at the very beginning. So little correspondance. Nothing 60 days after NBA sent. Small claims shortly after that.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide
