Why hasn't Ryaniar been included in the CAA action?
  • Plop, glug glug...

...is that when I first asked the CAA for an opinion, they said that because the flight had taken off from France and not UK I should contact their French equivalent, which I did and got a reply (in French) that said "we have contacted the airline and they say they don't need to pay you, sorry".

But the flight that caused the delay was UK -> France.

And the airline was UK operated.

And why the flip should it matter, it's all EC.

I can't believe the total lack of clarity and authority, but I suppose this has been reflected in the airlines' total disregard for the regulations and the law.

Anyway, I'm glad to see the CAA wading in, you have to give them credit. They don't have the power to force the airlines to behave in each case so they are using the power they do have, with the threat of a court order, well done and thanks. Big wheels turn slowly.

  • Well I'll sign off for the night and finish my bottle of wine/QUOTE]

    Sound thinking NA.

As I write the Harrogate DJ is mulling over Jet2's assertion that the failure of the Furtwangler was "extraordinary" and my reply that if you add up lots of little probabilities you get quite a big one. Given recent publicity I am hoping it will encourage said learned DJ in my direction but who can say?

Hi i went on holiday 2 or 3 years ago and my flight was delayed by quite a bit. I think the flight was in either 2012 or 2013, around the summer time. I think it was either just me and my wife or else me and my wife and another couple who were delayed. The flight was to one of the canary islands and the flight was with Jet2 or Ryanair.

Can anybody tell me how to claim compensation please.
