Immediately following the Huzar Court of Appeal decision, I wrote to Jet2 asking them to re-examine my claim as a matter of urgency. They have clearly done nothing of the sort, and have come back with the following, which beggars belief:
1. They are going to submit an appeal to the Supreme Court
2. Because the decision of the Court of Appeal is under appeal (!), they are unable to deal with my claim
3. They maintain that the delay to my flight (caused by a faulty VHF radio) was caused by an extraordinary circumstance (!!)
I first thought they were just joking and the cheque would be attached, but they obviously aren't. I am beginning to wonder if it's me that's going mad, or if they are just winding me up.0 -

You need to issue an NBA immediately and get yourself in the CC queue. Jet2 are also requesting current CC cases remain 'stayed' until the direct permission to appeal to the Supreme Court has been granted or refused.
If J2 are not paying up to 'stayed' cases currently before the court, in reality your quite reasonable direct request for a payout to Jet2 was probably more likely to succeed than one of their planes taking off on time!

We booked a return flight for October 2014 from Murcia to East Midlands in Jan 2014. On April 25 2014 Jet2 cancelled our return flight and offered an alternative flight on the day of my sons wedding. We had to rebook a return flight 2 days later than original and back to Alicante instead of Murcia. Subsequently we currently stand at an extra £150 out of pocket for the extra 2 days. Can we put a compensation claim in for this and can we do it now or do we need to wait until after we return?0

You can only claim compensation if the airline cancel 14 days or less before departure - which I am sure you agree is useless in most cases.
It does seem bizarre, that having purchased and paid in full for flights well in advance, establishing a contract in law, that airlines can cancel at any time up to 14 days without any penalty. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

I assume you are getting a refund of the unused flights, you could see if your travel insurance will cover anything else0

Did you pay by credit card? You might be able to make a compliant and ask them to process a charge back if they've breached their T&C's - although it sounds like they haven't.0 -
We finally got a refund which took 6 weeks and we did pay by credit card. We also wrote directly to Jet2 who, as "a gesture of good will" have given us 2 free extra leg room seats for our new return flight!!! WOW I'm only 5'2" .......0

My case was also 'stayed' (if that's the term) by the Court to await the Huzar appeal - both 2birds and myself were asked if that was okay and we said Yes.
The Court subsequently contacted both of us again (before the Huzar appeal) to see if we were still happy to wait - again we said fine.
I had read the news obviously and Jet2 (and now Thompson) are going to take this all the way probably to the European Court so I kind of assumed the local Court would continue to do nothing.
Is there anything to be gained by giving them a nudge?
