You need to have commenced court action within the 6 year period so you would need a time machine to take you back a couple of months0

Hi Inglorius,
It has a rule under EU Compensation that, if your flight get delayed, you are entitled for compensation even you have bought it 6 years ago. But according to your information it seems that your 6 years span has expired. Sorry to say but your ticket does not worth anymore.0 -
It was well over 4 hours delay from Palma to Manchester on 28/08/14.
Dear Customer
On behalf of Ryanair, we sincerely apologise for the delay to your recent flight.
Ryanair is committed to providing on-time flights with over 90% departing on time. Notwithstanding this certain events outside of our control can adversely affect flight schedules such as bad weather, unexpected aircraft flight safety problems and strike action.
We made all reasonable efforts to initially prevent and then reduce the flight delay. As it was caused for reasons outside of our control (extraordinary circumstances) we regret that no monetary compensation is due under EU261/2004.
For further clarification on what constitutes an extraordinary circumstance please click on the following link
If required forward the attached PDF document to your insurance company as proof of the delay.
Yours sincerely,0 -
Mark: depends why your aircraft was delayed. If it was an ATC strike or bad weather, that's extraordinary. A technical problem is most unlikely to be. See my guide in the last link in the sticky on the main forum.0

There was no strike or bad weather, all other planes that day seemed fine..
Is there anyway of finding out why it was delayed other than pursuing them in court? All we were told was technical fault meaning another plane had to be routed in causing the delay.0 -

In short, no. But PLEASE read the guide: it's all in there.0 -
Well done Sue Derbyshire....so glad you've come out on top. We were on the same flight as you and I have been e-mailing Ryanair ever since...but with no success. I e-mailed them yesterday having seen that they have compensated you for this particular delay and am waiting for them to respond. I don't think that they can deny us compensation now.0
