Just had some compensation confirmed for a flight we had last week.

Flight was from Porto to Belfast on the 27th March, we were supposed to land in Belfast at 18:25, but due to delays in leaving Porto we didn't land in Belfast until near 10pm that evening. I applied for EU261 compensation through the ryanair site the next morning, I added my details to the EU261 webform, including my IBAN details from Revolut, and got a response back on Wednesday 3rd April saying the compensation had been confirmed and would be in my account within 10 working days.

We paid £102 for the flights (£51 each) and are receiving a total of £686.80 in compensation.
Maybe worth sharing on this thread once the money's actually come through?

As you've seen, the compensation isn't correlated with the fare paid, so can be well in excess of it (or significantly below it sometimes), and you benefited from the distance being very slightly into the middle banding, but did you have the choice of claiming under the UK version of the regulations rather than the EU ones, which would have paid slightly more (£700), or was that Ryanair's preference?
  • Help needed please - my children and I were bumped (involuntarily) from a Ryanair flight on Friday from Fuerteventura to East Midlands. We finally arrived back at East Midlands 23h after our scheduled arrival time. Looking on the Ryanair website and the claim form it says "reason for claiming" and gives only 2 options - delay or cancellation. Which would I chose in this circumstance? Any other tips would be useful as I've never been in this situation before. Thanks.

Neither of those options fits your scenario (of denied boarding) and would probably lead to instant rejection if the flight itself was neither delayed nor cancelled, so you'll probably need to contact them via another channel instead of completing the delay/cancellation form:

Probably worth familiarising yourself with your rights under the regulations, your situation being covered by article 4 and links from there:

    https://www.legislation.gov.uk/eur/2004/261/contents

which, to be fair, is mirrored at:

Thanks. Interestingly Article 4 says "the operating air carrier shall immediately compensate" which hasn't happened and it would also indicate that I don't need to make a claim, however I expect that's not the reality of the situation. The link to the Notice you included is a different version to the one handed to be at the airport.

    Hi
I wonder if someone can help me ,  mummies somewhere it will have been covered somewhere in the thread ,     But I’m going through a torrid time here with Ryanair
they informed me after a delayed flight I would receive my compensation within 12 days ,   Of course that never happened .
That was 2 months ago in that time of sent loads of emails mostly just ignored ,     Twice I’ve been told to re send my bank details which I have done but still no reply to that.
They are obviously playing some sort of game with me ,   Is there an ombudsman I can go to ?   It’s getting out of hand ,
                                              Thank you

No, there isn't an ombudsman as such, although Aviation ADR provide alternative dispute resolution services for those who've exhausted the airline complaints process - however, this is a lengthy exercise and unsuited to expediting payment where a claim has already been accepted.

Your only option is likely to be small claims court action, where the mere act of sending the Letter Before Action might prompt settlement before getting that far.

Is there a chance that the bank details given are incorrect? There is a long running thread on Trip Advisor about people not being able to correctly add UK bank details to the RyanAir system.  The thread gives a work around and explains how to input your IBAN # correctly.

Does anyone have a postal address for Ryanair customer service? - My nephew needs to send a letter about a refund before following it up through the small claims court - their website is pretty unhelpful

Help please. We are going on holiday next week and have booked single flights Edinburgh to Malaga (1 week) then Malaga to Bordeaux (1 week) then home. Booked in January and in May Ryanair cancelled Malaga to Bordeaux flight. As everything else was already booked we had no choice but to book another flight with Volotea which ended up being an extra £267. Ryanair won't compensate as they gave us plenty warning and travel insurance won't pay as our actual trip hasn't been cancelled or disrupted. Just wanted to check if anyone else has been in a similar position and if we do just have to suck it up!! Thanks
