Ryanair are stating that the 4 hour delay was due to an earlier flight disruption as a result of airspace restrictions which caused a knock on effect.
    No claim due

Can i check this at all? Are they correct if so?

    Hi,

Use the Bott and EUclaim flight delay calculators, found on their websites, to see what they think. It's a good indicator.

    Good luck.

  • Hello,

My boyfriend's flight arrived with an hour delay and the airplane doors did not open until around 3 hours after which resulted in a total 4 hour delay. Ryanair has denied my claim. If there anything I can do?

I was going from Exeter to Naples with my mum over Easter, when we arrived for our 8.10am flight it was already showing a departure time of 11.30! Not impressed as we weren't informed prior to this. The flight ended up departing at 1pm ish. We lost 1/2 a day out of our 2 1/2 day vacay.
I got an email from Ryannair saying "if you have insurance and want to make claim we have provided a PDF for your to use", which makes it sound like you could only get a refund if you went through insurance. Not true Ryanair!

I looked into it a bit (on here) and used the Resolver application. It was so easy, so quick, they keep you informed of every step, how many days to expect a reply, what they would do if no reply was received by then etc.
I got a reply within the first week, Ryanair wanted my bank details for a FULL refund of £633 !!
:T:T (converted from euros to £ - max compensation was 400 euros each and there were 2 of us)
Our flight was over 4 hours delayed and into a longer distance category in EU.

I was so impressed with this system.

    Hi All,

So I just heard Ryanair pilots have announced they are striking 22-23rd August, we are due to fly to Malta on the 22nd.

While I can find lots of info on how to make a claim if we are delayed, what's the procedure in this scenario?

    What are my rights?

Do I contact Ryanair now or wait for them to officially cancel the flights?

I have a hotel booked also (flights + hotel booked via travel republic), should I be contacting them?

    Am I due compensation ?

    Thanks :)

Jumping on the back of this we are due to fly back from Majorca on the morning of the 23rd. This has got me in a bit of a panic, as i don't like the thought of a 24+ hour stay in the airport! :(

And Ryanair are still selling tickets for the strike days and won't give you compensation as its a strike airlines should not be selling tickets for travel on strike days

That is not correct. Pilot strikes are not extraordinary circumstances so compensation is due if they fail to give you 14 days notice. If they do give you notice or don't give you notice they are duty bound under EU261/2004 to re-route you at their expense, If they fail to do so you can re-route yourself and claim back the difference between the cost of the flight. When and if they contact you ask them to re-route you.
  • Unfortunately what may be true in theory is vapor when it comes to Ryanair. We were caught up in the Ryanair strike in Sept 2018. I claimed as per the above but Ryanair refused to compensate saying it did not accept responsibility. I appealed using Resolver process but apparently it is now sitting with the CAA to pursue Ryanair through the courts. If your flight is cancelled on the day be prepared to wait in a long queue and eventually be given a new flight on a different day to a different airport
