Okay so - live as it happens - hope someone can assist.
My daughter is in Madrid airport at present - it is 8.15pm Madrid time and her flight was delayed from a 1.05pm take off. It has been delayed and delayed and now she is worrying they are going to cancel this.
Can I just be clear about this "re-routing" policy they have? There is no Ryanair ground staff liaising with the passengers at all. If this flight gets cancelled - which I think it might - where does my daughter go to ask for rerouting? How does she arrange this? The website seems to talk about the offering it - but then gives you no details on how to. Very confusing. This had never happened to me personally as I have no experience and don;t knwo what to tell her. Do I just book her on another flight if this gets cancelled? Is anyone there to manage this?0 -

It sounds a bit chaotic out there atm.
There are no absolute rules on this, as so much is uncertain at the present time.
It depends what the airline says and what they offer her, probably via their website.
Are other flights even available tonight? maybe not.
She may be advised to find a hotel for the night, as Ryanair are unlikely to do so if the flight does become cancelled.
If she is offered a later flight back much would depend on how long they expect her to wait. Given the time now, overnight may be acceptable but anything longer may not.
It can always be argued that if she can get herself back before Ryanair offer to do so, Ryanair are failing to fulfil their responsibility to return a
passenger asap following the delay.
If Ryanair are not helpful she may just have to just help herself as best she/you can.
Do not accept a refund for the flight tho if it does become cancelled, we can sort that aspect out later.

I ended up with a cancelled flight yesterday which was due to depart at 13:35 and we were told of the cancellation 30 mins before.
We were told it was because of the technical fault France had with the Air Traffic Control.
My flight was from Dublin to Birmingham so unsure why it was affected.
I was rerouted that evening at 20:35. I know I can claim for my expenses food, drink, etc. I have kept the receipts but can I ask for compensation as some places state ATC are not Ryanair's fault so they don't but the judges news story on MSE says that technical fault should get compensation?
Any help would be appreciated.0 -
The ATC probably didn't affect your actual flight but your plane may have been stuck elsewhere on a previous leg.
Whether this is an EC or not depends on any previous legal rulings.
I believe there has been one recently that classed a previous ATC delay as an EC on the next flight on the same day. I might be wrong. Others may know.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Dear Experts, I'm looking for some advice. In true Ryanair fashion our flight was cancelled, they haven't provided any rerouting options, we bought new tickets and now they are refusing to reimburse us for the price difference. I made the mistake of taking them to the Irish small claims courts, assuming that everything can be done online and remotely. This is obviously not the case, Ryanair disputed my claim and now I either withdraw it or I have to go to Ireland for the court hearing. The two questions that I need help with are the following (and any tips are welcome too):
- Am I legally allowed to withdraw my claim at the Irish small claims court and start a new claim at the European small claims court for the same incident?
- I read somewhere that earlier the Ryanair Terms and Conditions stated the they can only be taken to an Irish court, but I don't see this anymore in the current Terms and Conditions. Is this true and was this still in effect when I bought the tickets in October 2018? If it was, then perhaps the European small claims court is not an option. Post 3083 in this forum seems to be dealing with this question, is this still the best way forward? Has anyone tried this?

I am not au fait with the Irish Court system but I would have thought that you can withdraw a claim, but probably a fee payable in adition to any court fees already paid.
I am sure you can re-start the process using ESCP. Assuming you live in the UK, or have a UK address you can use.
I m not sure about the legality of Ryanair limiting legal action to the Irish courts, but if it is no longer in their T&Cs, that should be OK.

As JP states there should be no reason why you cant halt your claim in the Irish courts and yes a small fee may be payable for this. Speak to the court and ask them if this is possible.
Also, check to see if you can legally start the claim again using ESCP. A friend of ours who used to post on here always advised on avoiding the Irish courts as they 'were not your friend' and, to use the ESCP to avoid them.
If RA didn't have the clause in their T's and C's when you made your booking about only using Irish Courts for litigation, then do (if you can) use your nearest UK court that is up to speed with ESCP.
If RA still had the clause, and I'd expect that they would have, then follow the advice as given in my post 3083.
Yes, people have followed this and claims have been able to progress using this route.
Good luck and keep going.Successfully sued Ryanair in 2013/14...and have been 'helping' litigants since then.
