Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Ryanair ONLY

Simple question. Our flight was cancelled from Bratislava , text received 12 hours before departure time. We got home by alternate means costing 2 of us approx £430 via Prague with another airline.
Question:
Am I entitled to claim a refund for the cancelled unused flight , AND compensation or will claiming the refund (via the link provided by Ryanair in their cancellation email) ruin my chances of a successful compensation claim)0 -
As I understand it, and others know better than I do, you are entitled to:
1. Compensation under the regulations; and.
2. The cost of your replacement flight, assuming that this was more than the Ryan Air flight; and
3. The extra cost of travelling to Prague rather than Bratislava.0 -
Assuming that you gave RA the opportunity to re-book you, even if the what was on offer was unacceptable. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

I'm sure the good Dr will be along shortly given RA's fiasco..
Surgery is always open JP!Successfully sued Ryanair in 2013/14...and have been 'helping' litigants since then.

I thought you might be open for business!
I think your score might change somewhat in the next coupple of weeks.
Should we do a thread for RA people when they arrive at this board specifically for the "O'Leary Effect" problem? If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

The Ryanair !!!! up:
The cancellations appear to have been caused by 2 issues:- The holiday calender for Ryanair pilots has changed mid-year and whoever is responsible for the pilot rostering has made a substantial error in doing this correctly, resulting in pilots having to take holiday in a short space of time.
- Norwegian Air (with a base in Eire) has poached a considerable number of pilots from Ryanair resulting in recruitment problems.
As a consequence Ryanair is having to cancel approximately 2% of its flights each day for the next 6 weeks at least. Cynics might suspect it will be longer than this.
If your flight is cancelled with more than 2 weeks notice, you should be rebooked/rerouted or allowed a refund, in full.
No compensation, under EU regulation 261/2004 is due.
However you may be able to seek compensation or consequential losses, via the Alternative Dispute Resolution service that the airline has subscribed to.
If your flight is cancelled with less than 14 days notice, you are most likely due the following:- Compensation between 250 and 600 Euros, depending on the flight distance.
- The costs of any accommodation and refreshments (not including alcohol) during your delay. Ryanair should arrange and pay for these upfront, but they won't, so keep all your receipts.
Any costs incurred in travelling to alternative airports should be refunded. - Re-routing/rebooking at no additional cost. If the re-routing is not acceptable or unreasonable then you should be able to seek either:
b) a full refund. If you make your own alternative flight arrangements, under regulation 261/2004 you should be able to reclaim the cost of the difference between your refund and the alternative flights.
What is acceptable or reasonable for the length of delay has not been defined, and if it goes to court, which is more than likely, it will down to a judge's decision. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Now that Ryanair have issued a list of their cancelled flights the "Ryanair Lottery" has lost a lot of potential players. For those of you who are thinking scratchcard think again as the £9.99 cancelled seats COULD LEAD to a €400 payout....
