Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Ryanair ONLY

Hi, I've got a quick question about claiming for a delay from Ryanair. We were flying from Barcelona to Edinburgh yesterday, and due to a technical fault with a part of the plane we were delayed and had to change planes, arriving in Edinburgh 4 hours late.
I can see that I'm eligible for compensation (although I expect they'll fight it!) but what is the best way to start this? Should I send them a letter as per some of the guides on here? Or should I use the form on their website? I noticed a few posts in this thread recently of people having success with this method.
So much to my surprise I received an email today where Ryanair admitted responsibility for the delay, and telli me I'll have £1103 in my account within 10 days. Although I might hold off on the celebrating until I actually have the money!0 -
Hi we have booked and paid for our flights with Ryanair for May 2018.
If they go bust, our travel insurance have told us they will not pay out as it is Ryanair own fault, I know we cannot ask Ryanair for a refund now as they would not pay it.
We paid by credit card so if they do do bust can we reclaim the money from the card company?

The CAA have been monitoring RA quite closely, judging from this article. See also the letter (using the link) sent to Martin O'Leary from the CAA, leaving him with no doubt! Passengers CAN use other airlines when re booking, under some circumstances.

Great spot - thanks for flagging.
The trouble is, like so much else with this Regulation, there's no detail on this anywhere. Whilst it's good the CAA seem to be taking a tough line (albeit about a decade too late) there is nothing in the Regulation - that I've seen, anyway - that explicitly creates an obligation on an airline to reroute you on another carrier.
And consequently there's no guidance on how long it would be unreasonable to expect you to wait for one of their own planes if they re-route you. I personally would give an airline 12 hours to produce an alternative flight - failing which they should put you on the first available alternative. But that's just a view, with no basis in the actual law. All that said, reports of airlines trying to re-route people for flights that are days later are just outrageous - as are the reports of airlines failing to advise people of their rights (which definitely is a breach of the Regulation).0 -
I had a flight cancelled back in March, due to strikes in Berlin the day before departure . Other airlines made the journey OK with some minor delays, and occasionally re-routing to Leipzig. I ended up missing a full day of my trip. I've put a claim into RA and of course they've batted this back to due 'industrial action' being the reason. Is it worth pursuing this further given the fact other airlines managed to get their customers to their destination?
I've placed my claim for my September cancellation, fingers crossed that one will be more difficult for them to get out of. Twice bitten by this airline will definitely scratch them off my list for future trips.0 -

If the strikes were the day before your flight you have a valid claim as that would be counted as a 'knock on' delay that did not directly affect your flight.

I have received delay compensation for myself, wife and daughter but not for our infant. I am awaiting a reply as to why.0

I really though this thread would be a lot busier?
I've found a case (only County Court level though) of a guy that has sued an airline for not booking him onto the next available flight with another airline. Ammunition for some perhaps.
