  • Hi, I've got a quick question about claiming for a delay from Ryanair. We were flying from Barcelona to Edinburgh yesterday, and due to a technical fault with a part of the plane we were delayed and had to change planes, arriving in Edinburgh 4 hours late.

I can see that I'm eligible for compensation (although I expect they'll fight it!) but what is the best way to start this? Should I send them a letter as per some of the guides on here? Or should I use the form on their website? I noticed a few posts in this thread recently of people having success with this method.

It's good to see O'Leary and his management are well on top of this problem NOT. They must have known about this for months if not years in advance?

    Hi punton93,

You should always put your claim to the airline first, so use their website. Don't leave it too long tho before you chase it up via resolver or ADR if you don't get any joy from them.

Please let us know how you get on.

    Good luck.

  • Hopefully someone can help! I'm looking for appropriate travel insurance; I go away to Rome next week and as Ryanair are cancelling so many flights I wanted to see if anyone knew about a travel insurance company who will cover for any cancellation/delay and also I have expensive tours booked and their terms say that if it is cancelled 2 days before the day of the event, which obviously I would like an insurance that will cover that too? Thank you!!!

The golden rule for travel insurance is you should buy it the first day you book any element of a trip, you never know what may happen.

Thanks! I've put my claim in, will update you when I have any more news. I'm hoping the more recent posts may indicate a change in the way they deal with claims, but I'm more than a little sceptical!
  • Hi

I was on the same flight and am just about to complete the form on their website - hopefully we are successful

    Hi Kev,

This is a straightforward case of a technical fault. You will get your compensation so long as you don't allow them to dissuade you with their clap trap:)

    Good luck.
