I called and provided them with the card details and mentioned that it does not seem right to pay 187 pound or something like that as the exchange rate is bad now.
She spoke to her supervisor and I am getting the exchange rate of the day I was due to fly

Well Flybe are still refusing to budge and I have now completed my N180 Directions Questionnaire and sent it to the court with a copy to Flybe. I have heard nothing from Flybe and they have 3 days to get their N180 to me.
This morning I had a card from Royal Mail saying they could not deliver a letter because the sender did not pay the full fee. If I assume it is more muppetry from Flybe (they sent legal stuff to the wrong address in this case) am I obliged to go to the PO and pay the fee or is not my legal responsibility? It could be from anyone and to be honest if I get cards like this I never pay the fee.
Thanks

Finally! I am getting £223.25 for my claim. Thanks to everyone for all their help!
For quite awhile it looked like they wouldn't pay out so my advice is to just keep persevering.
Any advice on calling them to receive the payout? Is it straight forward or are they still trying to trip us up?0 -
I seem to be having a similar problem to other people. I requested GBP and quoted the case but got this response:
Thank you for your further correspondence regarding your claim for EU compensation.
The legislation states that passengers are entitled to €250.00 and does not state a monetary value in a different currency. Therefore we are only paying out EU compensation in Euros. My apologies for the inconvenience.
In order that this may be processed we would ask that you contact us on 0371 522 6177 or +44(0)1392 683151 if calling from abroad with your card number and expiry date. This will enable us to process the payment directly onto your chosen card; we are unable to issue cheques. We are able to complete a bank transfer however this may take up to 10 working days.
Please be aware that Flybe will process this cash refund in Euros and you may therefore incur handling charges via your bank for the transaction.
Any suggestions for how I respond to get them to agree GBP?

This was the letter that did the trick:
Dear Sir/Madam,
Ref. your email of <date/time> [Incident: xxxxxx-xxxxxx]
I reject your offer of payment in Euros and reiterate my claim for payment to be made in GB Pounds Sterling. As a point of clarification, I would proffer that this should be at the currency conversion rate applicable at the date of the claim (27-Jul-2014) as this would be in line with a recent Court judgement on this matter (below). I note that similar such claims at that time, as reported in public forums, have been settled by Flybe at a rate of £200 per passenger.
I refer you to the Blake -v- Easyjet case (District Judge Jenkinson) in March 2015, where the Judge ruled that EU 261/2004 does not require either the airline to pay or the passenger to accept payment in Euro currency. The judge went on to rule that the exchange rate for converting the Euro sum into GBP should be the date that the court proceedings were issued by each passenger in question. Thanks again. It makes up in part for sitting all day in SOU after flying down from Scotland, instead of starting our holiday a day early (Flybe cancelled the connecting flight and bumped us twice into the evening). Don't get me wrong, SOU is nice for a pub lunch for an hour or so and a good view of the runway from the cafe, but >5 hours there is not the same as enjoying a nice hotel and hire car in Jersey you've already paid for...0

Funny thing is, I'm doing almost the same route in a few weeks LBA, SOU finally Jersey, and like you car hire and hotel booked, never been to Southampton but don't fancy a day at the airport there, the pub lunch sounds good, but when your driving in Jersey you can't even make the most of that.
I'll have to go back and read your earlier posts on your delay, I take it the plane went tech at SOU and you had to disembark, the other flights during the day were already full and you ended up getting the last flight out early evening ?
Cheers,

My sister, who lives in Guernsey, has recently sworn she will NEVER use Flybe again as they have p****d her and family off way too many times with flights to/from Guernesy, with endless delays, cocked up bookings short notice cancellations etc.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide
