    Hi again,

    Yes thats clearer now, thanks.

It doesn't look like you are due compensation in this case. If your total delay was just 3 hrs and part of that was due to ATC stopping departures for a while, it means the none EC part of the delay was under 3 hrs.

What normally happens in cases like this, where the delay is caused partly by a none EC reason and partly by an EC, the EC part is deducted from the total time. If it still comes to 3 hrs or more compensation would be due.

Further, claimed weather problems often do not directly affect the flight in question, in this case it does. Meaning no EU261 compensation in this case, sorry.

Flightaware shows a delay of 3 hours and 1 minute (to gate) the 1 hour+ waiting on weather to clear would be excluded from that meaning the delay within the airlines control was less than 3 hours
EUClaim shows An analysis of the data for this flight shows that an extraordinary circumstance was the cause of the delay.
Unfortunately you are not entitled to compensation

EuClaim says you are not due any compensation. Try putting your flight details into bottonline and see what they say.

Hi Everyone and thank you for your comments Flightaware are wrong as we have photos of the plane touching down at the end of the runway at 20:58 wheels down and at 21:00 we are still moving towards the gate ! these are time stamped and the we had to taxi to the stand.
Unfortunately I have no doubt in my mind that the figures and times are manipulated to avoid this sort of thing.
I have entered details into Botton line they say compensation of 400 Euros
I think I will just give the opportunity to re visit the application with extra evidence see what happens.
I'm not trying to be awkward but we lost a whole day of our holiday through this.

Flightaware is not very accurate but neither is it under the control of the airlines.

You would be best advised to give Botts a call to discuss your delay with them due to multiple reasons for the delay.

    Good luck.

Okay so I get the flight delay compensation and I get the total trip cancellations issues. But..... our flight back from Rome was cancelled by BA, no reps to talk to in Rome, couldn’t get through on the phone to them, link in text that said rebook offered us another flight two days later. We have a child we need to be home for and I had work next day. So we go to a desk and book the only flight back to England that night. £660 for two of us. BA not interested in compensating us say they have refunded our return flight, which was a lot less that £660 and they would have offered to put us up for two night...and the child and work?? Travel insurance covers whole trip cancellation and delay neither of which covers our situation. Husband complained to BA I complained to BA both occasions very nice lady explains they did all they need to do and understand how frustrating it must be. Lovely but not the customer service I would expect from BA when we landed in England the BA desk had five people on it handing out Hotel vouchers
arranging Taxis and sorting out people who had flights cancelled from London, that is what I would have expected but no BA desk in Rome. Where do I go next to complain?

Welcome. You need to repost on the specific BA thread. Posting a new personal thread will make navigation on the board very difficult and inevitable your post, like BA Rome staff will just disappear.
You will also find that downloading Vauban's superb guide very helpful.

Are due a right of re-routed flights under regulation 261/2004. As you point out 2 days later is unacceptable. Your additional expenses for the alternative flights must be refunded by BA as long they were similar conditions or seat class etc.
This is payable irrespective of the reason for cancellation.
You may be due compensation in addition, depending on the reason for the cancelled flight. And also your timings Vaubans guide will explain this. But post up ALL your original and alternative flight details for help.
