The issues with the Trent 1000 have been subject to EASA inspection/ modification since Apr 2018, well over 2 months ago.
IMHO BA are shirking their responsibilities, and trying to fob you off.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

With respect what does that have to do with anything, the op states that the aircraft he was to fly on is not fitted with the Trent 1000 engines. But thanks for pointing it out it might help with other claims.0

Exactly. And it still doesn't negate BAs duty of care to re-routed or compensate for additional flights costs.
The B package engines are an on wing check so relative quick to do, BA I believe, has few of these engines and I read they were to be part of regular inspections, not bespoke. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Hi Everyone bit of a one this as we flew with BA in May 2018 when we arrived at the airport they told us at check in that the flight had been delayed and they were trying to get another plane but to keep checking boards we were due to fly at 13:40 and after boarding and getting to the end of the runway were then caught in bad weather that had just arrived ! bad weather was not present at normal departure time ! Captain stated that the plane had a blown out tyre at Alicante and that had made it late !
The plane arrived at Lanzarote at 21:01 and opened the doors over 3 hrs late unfortunately BA are being awkward we have sent original post through resolver and they said it was delayed by bad weather when challenged on this they sent this reply
Thanks for coming back to us about your EU compensation claim. I realise you're disappointed with our response and I'm sorry for letting you down.
I’ve reviewed your claim and can confirm that the aircraft's previous flight was delayed by a wheel change and thunderstorm activity in the London Gatwick area, which had a knock-on effect on BA2732. As the reason for the delay was outside of our control, I'm afraid we're not liable for a compensation payment under EU legislation.
Article 5.3 of the EU Regulation 261/2004 states a carrier is not obliged to pay compensation if it can prove the delay or cancellation is caused by extraordinary circumstances, that couldn’t have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. In Recital 14 and 15 of EU Regulation 261/2004, extraordinary circumstances include weather, strike and the impact of an air traffic management decision which gives rise to a long delay. This means you’re not entitled to compensation under the EU Regulation for your delayed flight.
I realise this will be disappointing for you but I hope this information will help you to understand our decision.
Thanks again for getting in touch and if there's anything that I can help you with, please don’t hesitate to ask me by replying to this email using the blue link below.
I have seen Martins videos and he refers to it not being acceptable that an aircraft is late and therefore if we had taken off on time no bad weather would have affected our flight - they have also lied to some extent as they originally stated bad weather when we advised otherwise they have changed their minds ?
The staff on the aircraft told us to claim as we were late due to a late plane.
(if not for the plane being late arriving , we would not have encounted weather)
Any advice / views / words of wisdom would be helpful

Welcome.
Please copy and past this onto the specific BA thread where your queries will be answered.
Creating your new, personal thread makes navigation of the board very difficult and inevitably your post will disappear into oblivion lower down the board.
ThanksIf you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Hi ma3140,
You details are hard to follow, what was your flight number and date, where were you flying to and from, did the weather cause a further delay, if so where and when?
A flat tyre is not an EC, weather may be, depending on the details.
Good luck. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
Hi thanks for the reply our flight was BA2732 to Lanzarote the plane was supposed to depart at 13:40 when we checked in around 10am we were told of a delay of 2 hrs and to watch the boards as they were trying to get another aircraft ! the plane boarded at 16:00 and by then the weather was becoming unsettled after being good all morning. The plane got to the end of the runway and was held due to weather , the pilot had explained prior to backing off the dock that the plane had had problems with the tyres in Alicante and this had a knock on effect to our late departure.
when getting to the end of the runway about 3 planes back they stopped departures due to weather.
They are now saying that weather was an issue and they wont pay but if there had been another aircraft /or they had departed at 13:40 we wouldn't have hit the weather so I think its really bad that they are blaming their tech issues on weather holding us up we landed at 21:01 and the doors opened after 3 hrs hope this helps.
Originally they tried to just blame the weather which I find very disappointing0
