You probably do have a valid claim, depending on the reason for your original delay.
20 minutes is not a long dealy for a transatlantic flight so your connection time must have been very tight anyway. As is often the case, never have a tight transfer time, especially entering the US.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Or in our case the UK.
I wish they'd stop selling the flights with a tight connectionLoved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -
I'm using Resolver to communicate with BA and finally got a "we will look into it" response after 6 weeks.
Now, a week later they want a letter with the passanger signatures on because of Data Protection issues.
Is this BA's usual response?
Shocking customer service, almost as bad as at the airport where we were kept for 8 hours without offer of a drink or food. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0 -

Hi Sags,
It sounds like BA are having a 'bad day'. They are usually better than this but can dig their heals in sometime.
Look into the CEDR ADR system as an alternative.
Good luck. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
Response from BA to say no compensation due as it was outwith their control.
Not giving up yet as I know flights did take off when mine was due to they were just playing catch up with ones cancelled the previous day and that had a snowball effect.
They can't just get you home over 14 hours later than expected/due and say not our fault!
Will keep you posted0 -
If your flight was from Barbados to London with BA you will be due compensation. Put your flight details into an on line checker like Bottonline & EuClaim and as has been said download and read Vaubans Guide where everything is explained.0

Ruthanlolly,
You should also consider referring your case to CEDR, which is what BA should suggest if you don't agree with each other.

I have decided to use resolver for now, watch this space.0

We've booked our normal route, MAN - PHL thorough BA this time, thanks to their Avios double up offer.
The flight is operated by American Airlines, still with a BA flight number as well as an AA number.
In case of a delay, would the BA booking be what counts and therefore we should be looked after, or compensated if delayed over three hours?Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0 -
It doesn't matter who you book with - it's who the flight was originally due to be operated by that counts. Which in this case is a non-EU airline.
This means you are covered if leaving Europe (so the MAN-PHL leg), as all airlines have to abide by the Regulation when leaving EU airports. But you won't be covered by the Regulation if flying AA into Europe (PHL - MAN) if your flight is cancelled or delayed.0
