  • We have just been informed by BA that we will be getting 600 euros (Sterling equivalent) for our delayed flight from LHR to Denver on September 5th due to mechanical problems. We went through Resolver and have had no problems so are really pleased with the result.

Well done no thanks for the update
  • Hi there,

I know you posted this 3 years ago but I was wandering whether you had any luck at all with you BA claim?
I have just made a claim with BA based on exactly the same circumstances for BA0208 flight from Miami to Heathrow from August 2012.
My claim was refused as the plane arriving from London was stroke by lightning.
Same as in your case that aircraft was scheduled to collect passenger from an earlier Miami to Heathrow flight BA0206 and not my flight BA0208.
As a result both BA0206 and BA0208 encountered delays.

As London was my final destination I didn't miss any connections however the delay I encountered was over 24 hours.

Would be grateful for any help,

    Cheers!

British Airways A380 G-XLEE Operates Delayed Los Angeles Rotation.
    September 30, 2016
British Airways A380 G-XLEE operated yesterday’s delayed BA269/BA268 London Heathrow – Los Angeles early this afternoon as BA9606/BA9607.
    .

Great info, thanks. When I put BA9607 into EUClaim's claim checker, it said that it couldn't find any such flight and refused to allow me to proceed. However when I said that the details of the replacement flight were unknown, I got the result that "you are entitled to compensation".

Having read how hard it is to get airlines to cough up without having to jump through numerous hoops, I'm beginning to wonder if it's actually worth the 27% commission plus processing fee to get somebody else to do the donkey work.

  • Can anyone offer an opinion on whether I might get compensation from BA. Our flight from Barbados to London was cancelled due to the crew "not being rested" they were diverted to Antigua on the way out due to weather. The connecting flight from London to Glasgow was moved by 13 hours and then when we got to London that flight was delayed due to technical problems. We finally got home 14 and a half hours later than scheduled.

I know Barbados is not covered by EU rule but what about the London-Glasgow flight being put back due to us not being able to make it due to first leg of journey and then being delayed??

    Hi Ruthandlolly,

I would say you are almost certainly due compensation.

Please download and read Vaubans great guide, just Google it.

Then put your flight details into a couple of the on line flight delay calculators, if they say you are due compensation you can then decide which route to take.

    Good luck.

  • Hi,

Just thought I'd post with a successful claim, although it took a bit of to and fro.

My flight was a BA cityflyer (Chartered Summer Flight) from Glasgow to Malaga on the 3rd September 2016. When we arrived at check in we received notification that the flight had been slightly delayed and was now being operated by Titan Airways. This struck alarm bells straight away, as Titan are used for replacement charters etc. The flight itself was very good, aircraft was very nice and cabin staff were great. Unfortunately it was delayed, but fortunately it was delayed by more than 3 hours, we were in no major hurry, and I thought if we are going to be delayed, it might as well be more than 3 hours.
On return to the UK, I raised a claim with BA, to which I got a reply to the effect of the delay was caused by Air restrictions, so my claim was rejected. I requested further details on the Air restrictions, and was sent another reply to the same effect, 'the cause was due to Air Restrictions' claim rejected.
I then sent a further email asking for precise details of the cause of 'Air Restrictions' delay, detailing that I had 25 years in the aviation industry, to which I had no response. 2 weeks later I sent another email asking again for details of the 'Air Restrictions', so that I could pursue the case further.
2 days later (this morning), I received an email, stating my claim for compensation had been approved and I would be sent a cheque for the equivalent of 800Euros!!!
I wonder what changed their mind!

Your persistence made them realise that you weren't going to be fobbed off.
    Well done
  • Hi can anyone advise me please? We recently flew from LHR to Chicago Ohare where we were due to connect to a flight to Kansas. The LHR to Chicago flight was delayed by about 20 minutes but due to the tight turnover and the time it took to get through 2 lots of security etc we missed our connection by about 5 minutes. BA put us up in a hotel and gave us meal vouchers and flights for the next day. Would we qualify for compensation as we never arrived at our final destination until 9 hours later than we should have? We had a straight through ticket, all booked with BA but our flight was still on the ground in Chicago when we landed. BA have not yet responded to my claim.
