Due to reading a lot of experiences on the forums where people received a lot more due to missing out on a day or two of their holidays. I was just wondering if that was taken into consideration for myself.

the compensation amount is fixed...the same €600 is paid for long haul flights whether the delay is 5 hours or 35 hours.
I expect the ones that have received more were claiming for more than one person
the other additional payments that would be refunded is if you were not provided with hotel etc and needed to pay your own you would then reclaim

I have accepted and cashed the cheque now anyway. I was just curious if I should have claimed further compensation that's all.
Thanks for all your help. I will know for the future.

Basically, The flight got delayed over 3 hours, please see the attached pictures.

Tried to make a claim but BA said it's only delayed by 169mins (2hours and 40 mins) but from their website and flightstats, it's clear that it was delayed more than 3 hours. The doors opened at around 12:40. The scheduled arrival time was suppose to be 9:30(local time).

Should I take this further to Civil Aviation Authority?

    Hi aaad1,

I wouldn't bother with the CAA, it will take time and they cannot enforce payment from the airlines

1st step is to read Vaubans guide, just google it and download, and then put your details into a couple of the claim companies calculators. If they say you have a good claim you can then decide to DIY or go via NWNF solicitor.

With the evidence you already have I would say BA have already 'shot themselves in the foot'. I'm sure a judge would laugh them out of court.

If your delay at arrival was over 3hrs but under 4hrs you are due half the full rate. i.e 300 euros for each qualifying passenger.

Why airline are still so willing to lie time after time is beyond me. CAA PLEASE TAKE NOTE.

    Good luck.
Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.

Thanks for the info, I thought this would be a simply process. I have always thought British Airways as a good honest company but not sure why they are being so difficult.

What do other people think about this situation?

Found more evidence using flight tracker. When BA claimed the plane was delayed by 169mins that means it was at 12:19(local time), I looked at the tracker and it is clear that the plane was no where near the airport!

Why don't they just cooperate and get this done properly?

    Hi again,

It's because they are testing your resolve and determination.

You might be one of, say 5%, who are willing and determined enough to see it through to the end. The other 95% will fall by the wayside, for one reason or another, so BA only pay out a fraction of the compensation due.

It's a game of attrition played by ALL the airlines which ultimately saves them money.

The CAA know this but sit back and do NOTHING.

You will get your compensation, if you want it enough.

    Good luck.

    Hi

I thought I'd give you an update. So I sent them loads evidence yesterday and said I would take them to court over this(advice from the Vauban's guide), they have sent me an email today saying that they have made an error and they will pay the compensation :D :j
    Thanks for the help. :T

You were on a winner right from the start, went about it the right way and showed them you were sure of your facts.

They were just trying it on. Shame about the other 95% from your flight.

    Well done:)
