Could someone give me the flight details so I can write to Thomson again for flight delay:
London Gatwick to Alicante I am not sure of the time but we didn't get to our hotel until near 1am on the 16 July 2013. If I remember rightly we were around 4 hours delayed.
Alicante to Gatwick due to fly on 23 July but was delayed for 18 hours - we were put up in a hotel - would be grateful if someone could help - thank you in advance0 -

Thank you I will have a look at their site.0 -
You say you got to your hotel at 1 am on the 16th July 2013 meaning you flew on the 15th July. There were no Thomson flights from Gatwick to Alicante on that day. But on the 16th July 2013 there was a flight that was delayed I think that was your flight so double check your date's. Flight stats doesn't give much information though but i will come to that in a minute.
Your return flight on the 23rd July was cancelled. Did they give you any reason for both of these delays/cancellatiions?
Right here are your details
Tuesday 16th July 2013 Thomson flight TOM4246 Gatwick to Alicante Flight stats says status unknown so i did a check on Bott & Co's flight delay checker (they are No Win No Fee solicitors) and they state you are entitled to 250 euro compensation per passenger.
Tuesday 23rd July 2013 Thomson flight TOM4247 Alicante to Gatwick. Flight stats says status Cancelled, again did check with Bott & Co who again say you are due 250 euro per passenger. Now read Vaubans guide and issue NBA letter. All explained in the guide. Good Luck0 -
Thank you so very much for putting me right - I'm actually doing this for my son so the dates were a bit up in the air so to speak! I will follow your advice now xx0

So our flight to Las Palmas was delayed from 13:55 to 20:10 and we were given £7 each in vouchers to survive in an airport lounge for over 6 hours more than expected, ended up spending about £15 on top of that for dinner at 17:30 expecting to be flying in 2 hours.
Nope they then delayed the flight again until the next day and put us up in a hotel with food, which we'd already paid for thinking we were flying that day.
The flight left at 08:18 the next day, just over an 18 hour delay.
Now, the template I've got from MSE is all about the flight delay, and I can probably add the food receipt as well, but it's the same compensation for those delayed by 3 hours as it is 18 or more which seems to imply it doesn't cover anything to do with the fact we lost a whole day in the resort, in the hotel we paid for. Is this done separately or is this all part and parcel of the blanket compensation for the delayed flight?
Thanks0 -

Loss of a day in the resort would likely be claimed from your travel insurance I guess there is no real financial loss as you received a paid-for night in the UK in place of the night you paid for at destination so did not pay out anything additional.
Insurance should cover something over 12 hours but may be a minimal value0 -
Antimus,
The EU261/2004 regs are for a fixed amount.
See Vaubans guide for details and much more. (Google it)
Claim your additional meal cost from T, they should pay them so long as you have receipts (soft drinks and meal, no alcohol). The regs state that you should receive drinks and meals at appropriate times, not vouchers that do not suffice in expensive airport restraurants. All the airlines have been getting away with this practice for years.
Good luck. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
Thanks guys.
Seems a bit unfair that compensation wise a delay causing you to spend a day in rainy Manchester and not sunny Gran Canaria doesn't include a refund for your day and night in the resort because they put you up in an airport hotel for a night.
That's like leasing a Ferarri for a year but they give you a Citroen 2CV for the first month.
Holiday insurance wise yeah they only cover £10 for every 12 hours delayed, which again doesn't seem to cover the fact we paid for a night in the resort we didn't get...0 -
We spent 27 hours trapped inside Malaga airport and a poxy hotel in an industrial area near the airport thanks to Jet2.
No pool, no restaurant and cold beans for breakfast. Arrived at hotel at midnight and bussed back to the airport at 7.30 to sit there all day again.
The grass isn't always greener.:) But I do take your point. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
If it was a Thomson package holiday then i would seek some form of compensation/damages for spoiling your holiday. You'll need to keep it separate from your reg 261 claim though.
If separately booked flights and hotel then no joy there. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide
