  • Ill have a look at that. I wouldn't of minded if it was a bird strike if we was told that in the first place! I also found Thompson to have terrible customer service! We were delayed for 7 hours and not once was we told why we were delayed. I find it hard to believe the Thompson rep didn't know the reason. We only found out when we was on the runway! There lack of customer service and to go above and beyond for their customers is diabolical! Has anyone won from taking them to a small claims court?

Yes, lots have won against Thomson, if you go back a few pages in this thread, you will find that they are one of the few airlines that are actually paying claims without the need for Court action, the worst offenders are Jet2, Ryanair, Wizz air and Monarch to name a few.

  • At least people are winning against them! We had a fantastic holiday but the delay was a complete nightmare and spoilt it a lot for us! I can feel a lengthy battle with them to be honest but if I have to take them to a small claims court then I will! Its principle more then anything! Its safe to say I will never use Thompson again as their poor service is enough to put me off!
  • I have just had a read of it thanks! Thompson replied to say the reason for our delay was bird strike. I know that is in the extraordinary circumstances but when we finally boarded our flight the pilot actually told us the reason for the delay was the Dreamliner the day before had mechanical failure and it had a knock on affect to the aircraft. I believe Thompson are saying bird strike so they don't have to pay out!

Bird strikes are not extraordinary circumstances!!

And very especially not EC if your flight was not involved with a bird strike
The above is just my opinon - which counts for nowt! You must make up your own mind.

Hi i'm looking for some advice. We travelled to Mexico in September and my wife was 4 months pregnant. On check out we were informed that we had an 11 hour delay. We found out that was due to a problem with the evacuation slide being deployed at gatwick unintentianally. Anyway we had to pay for an extra days accomodation, meals and parking at gatwick. We wrote to Thomson on September 18th. I have never once had any aknowledgment from them about any aspect of our complaint / claim except for me rigning them. First it was "it will be dealt with within 28 days" then 56 days, then 56 days from the case being looked at. Finally at christmas, I was told a cheque had been issued on December 11th. However this never arrived, Since then I have phoned probably about 10 times, never getting anywhere. The last lady I spoke to on Friday said I needed to put it in writing that the cheque never arrived and to e-mail her this and she'd acknowledge and action it. Needless to say she never responded to my e-mail again. Im starting to wonder now if i'm ever going to get this? Is there anything I can do in this matter or do I have to just keep ringing the call centre?
  • When I received the letter from Thompson it stated that bird strike was an exstrodinary circumstance but having looked into a bit more and on here it looks like it's not! We weren't told that on the day so we will have to wait and see! Thanks for the advice!!
  • Hooray! Finally got my payment after more than 3 years from first writing.

I put in MCOL after Thomson ignored my final NBA following Dawson. I got default judgment for all my party (I was lead passenger and paid the bill). Interest included at 8%.

    Persistence can pay off. :)

Excellent result well done and to get interest at 8% is almost unheard of.

How did the default judgement come about? Not like Thomson to let one slip!

    Cheers,

Thomson appeared to just give up and not respond to the court Orders. Mine was straightforward though, the only issue being the 2 year limit so once Dawson was sorted it was a done deal.
