  • You can print your own stamps/labels from the Post Office now - saves going out to buy them.

I hope you remembered to give Thomson your BACS details, otherwise you'll be queuing up in the bank to pay your compensation cheque in....

Oh nooooo, I didn't. KILL. ME. NOW.

Lets wait and see what happens.

Can I really print my own recorded delivery stamps/labels...off to google! Thanks for the tip!

Yes you can, but if it's recorded you still have to queue up to hand it over to the PO!

Hi just to update everyone on this received a letter from thomson a couple of weeks ago with a cheque for £938 (600 euros per person).

Very Happy and if it wasn't for this site I would have never have got it :j

Congrats and well done. Can you tell us what caused your delay?

Opening the envelope and finding a lovely cheque attached made my day when I received mine. I thought it was going to be a letter fobbing me off. Good luck to everyone else with their claims.
  • I had a 9 hour delay coming back to Manchester from Dalaman in June 2010, with my husband and his 2 kids. It was awful they never gave us a reason for the delay and we got no information whilst in the airport!

I wrote to Thomson on 14th October and also chased up on 4th november - to date I have not even had an acknowledgement, anyone in the same situation what did you do or can you advise the best way to proceed.

    Thanks :)

You could try badgering them on social media. They're probably v busy as a result of the Supreme Court's decision. You could also send them a letter before action - and then take them to court if they continue to ignore.
  • Oh My Goodness....have I been living under a rock!!!

I haven’t checked on here for a couple of months because I thought it would be another long, long, long wait for the Supreme Court to decide.

I can’t believe I have wasted almost 4 weeks when I could have been chasing the courts and Thomson for my compensation.

I have just phoned the court and they said I have to write yet another letter telling them that the supreme court have rejected Thomson and request my stay to be lifted. I wonder how long it will take for my compensation to be paid. I have already won this case so it should take too long, should it?. I hope I get it before Christmas as a few grand will do nicely.

Lol! In fairness I think we were all a bit surprised - at least by the timing!

Worth you writing to Thomson at the same time to say that, following Dawson/Huzar, you have written. But that it will be cheaper if they just pay up now!
  • Hi All, I haven't been on here for a while but after the recent High Court Cases I thought I would contact both court and Thomson to get on with my case as it had been deferred from last year. I received an email from Thomson wanting to settle the claim, after all the hard work of banging everything together, the emails, the letters the court bundle this time last year I thought great what a relief.......however a few things have really knarked me.

1 - The exchange rate they have offered is leaving me around £100 short of what I applied for in the bundle (exchange rate at date of delay). They are quoting a CPR practice direction 40B - It is ordered that the defendant pay the claimant the euro or the sterling equivalent at the time of payment. They have stated the amount awarded will be that of the date of judgement and in this case, settlement between the parties.

    2 - Interest Rate - Originally offered 3% but now offering 5%

3 - They are not compensating a loss of a day's earnings due to the delay of £130 either which i have claimed for.

So to cut a long story short....I'm delighted they have offered to settle but a bit done over the above points....however I don't want this to drag on and its a nice amount of around £1700 and I really do want to take it and close the matter once and for all....any feedback welcome and thanks to several guys on here for all the help 12 months ago, you know who you are.
  • ok, so letter posted to the judge and thought a cheeky phone call to thomson wouldnt go a miss.

The guy i spoke to said they are woking through the list in chronological order and contacting everyone to settle their cases. He said within the next 14 days......
