    Hi JHill85,

A bird strike would enable them to escape their obligation to pay compensation and so it could also be an attempt to mislead you. A bird strike is a reportable event but I cannot find any reports of such. As they were changing tyres in front of you their story sounds doubtful.

Put in a claim for EU261 compensation and see what they say. If you have any receipts for any additional snack and soft drinks you can also claim a refund for those too as you should would have been entitled to more than one snack in an 8 hour period.

    Good luck.

  • Hi,

My flight (MT2842) Manchester to Cancun was delayed 9 hours on 14th September 2018.
I’ve just got back so I haven’t put a claim in yet.
I know I am due to get something because TC have admitted it was their fault (technical issue).

I was due to board another flight in Cancun to Mexico City (this was a 3hr 7 min layover) then Mexico City to SanJose Del Cabo (2hr 17min layover) HOWEVER because of the delay I missed these flights and had to rebook new flights which cost me an extra £260.39.

I am insured but my insurance company said that what ever I get from TC will be deducted, so if I get €600 then I get nothing from my insurance (which seems unfair).

    Just looking for some advice.
Just hope I get €600 and it would cover extra flights and phone charges?

Anyone else just having the Manchester to Cancun flight would get the same as me and have no/little other cost. Seems unfair.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Were you booked on one through ticket? If so it will be treated as one journey

    No,
Thomas Cook was one ticket and the other two flights were on another ticket together.
That’s why TC wouldn’t help me at the airport.

I was too late to take them to court in Scotland but Bott and Co got my compensation for me.

Googler and download the most excellent guide produced by Vauban. This will lead you step by step. Some airlines possibly including tui, don't respond to Resolver anyway.
If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

    Good luck.

Am I missing something here? TUI is a different company to Thomas Cook.
