My wife, stepdaughter and I were booked on MT1461 from Kefalonia to London Gatwick on Saturday 24th June. Due to a problem with the outgoing flight from Gatwick, we were subject to a 10 hour delay.
On returning home, I contacted Thomas Cook customer services on 27th June via their website to advise of the delay and request compensation under EU261/2004 of €400 per person.
On 10th July I received an email advising of a BACS payment to the total of £1065 being made (3x £355 per person) and it was in my bank on 14th July.
Cannot fault Thomas Cook over the handling of my complaint, no extra communication required and settled very promptly.0 -
Well Done Thomas Cook this time.0

Stranded at Dalaman (Turkey) airport, Thomas Cook flight MT0803 to Manchester was due to depart at 2:05, but showing delayed until 7:00. Never had to claim any compensation, so will be going through this thread for any tips.
Anyone else on this flight by any chance?0 -

Hi AAB,
Keep all receipts for food and soft drinks etc if you need to buy anything yourself.
Is the incoming aircraft on the ground at Dalaman? There doesn't seem to be any flight in the air from Man to DLM at the moment so assume it has arrived.
Manchester arrivals showing ETA 9.30.
also
Antalya MT239 to MAN cancelled for some reason.
update,
The aircraft which eventually returned to MAN was LY-VEP which TC lease from Avion Express, a Lithuanian company. Landed at about 9.15.
update 2,
This may be from the flight 24hrs to yours...

Hi just got offered £1400 for a delay of 7 hours from Manchester to Alicante by Thomas cook but unfortunately it was in vouchers and the email had the e voucher attached without my consent. I have asked for the settlement to be supplied in cash, well a bank transfer or cheque. Fingers crossed they will. I'll let you know how it pans out.0

How many of you were on the flight0

Hi
We were delayed by 4 and a half hours flying back from Bulgaria to Manchester on Thomas Cook due to the late arrival of the outbound plane
they had failures with 2 planes leaving Manchester
The first they said had issues with an evacuation slide ( they say this was 2 hr delay)
Then the 2nd replacement plane hit birds when it was being flown into Manchester from Germany
Thomas Cook say because of the bird issue with the 2nd flight they have no case to answer
Would there be any point claiming ?
Thanks0 -

Hi BlueMac,
It all depends on which aircraft was scheduled to come out for you. If it was the first one, with an evacuation slide problem, you would be due compensation.
If it was the second one, with the bird strike, there would be no point, as that is considered to be an 'extraordinary circumstance' so no compensation due.
You need to find out which plane was due to operate your flight as it couldn't have been both of them.
If you post your flight details we may be able to tell a little more.
Good luck. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
Presumably the second aircraft affected by birdstrike was a replacement for the first affected by the tech ie the original aircraft?
And there is also the knock on consideration here. The bird strike didn't affect the poster's actual flight...If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide
