Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Thomas Cook ONLY

Gerard Vauban's Guide (Google if necessary) ...then future posts on TC dedicated thread please.0

Remember that flight delay compensation is not calculated on how late the flight departed but how long after the scheduled arrival time it landed. This may explain there calculation and yours ????????0

this is the Thomas Cook thread for any further questions https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/43846930

It takes hardly any time for a BACS payment to go through but it depends on when they process it.0

I got compensation awarded off Thomas Cook but it was in the form of a voucher for £1400. This was on 11 Jan this year. I wish to have my compensation as cash so replied to them using Resolver but my replies just bounce. I have tried emailing TC via their complaints page on their website but again seem to be getting ignored.
What is the best way to contact? Letter to CEO? Phone call?
Bit of a pain as I have my eye on a new bicycle and the missus says that I can get one with my half of the compensation money.
Many thanks in advance0 -
They probably think you will go away Write a letter before action enclosing the voucher and give them 14 days to pay the cash or you will take them to court. Template letter in Vaubans Guide.0

Hi all,
I've posted on here previously regarding the 24 hour + delay that my wife and I had on this flight back in 2015. After getting nowhere with Thomas Cook (other than a £100 "gesture of goodwill"), I decided to pursue a claim via Bott & Co.
After 18 months plus of sporadic updates from Bott & Co and getting to the stage where they requested witness statements for the case, they advised that they had lost a similar case and weren't willing to pursue on a NWNF basis. While disappointed, I just decided to cut my losses and withdraw the claim, leaving it there.
The reason for this post is that out of interest I went on their site today and their calculator is still suggesting that they can pursue a claim for 600EUR per passenger on this flight, which seems odd. I'm looking to find out if any other passengers from this flight (I know a few others did post on here around the time) had any success with their claims?

Hi Sarge94061,
I believe you still have a good claim and you still have another option that seems to be reasonably successful and easy to use.
TC are members of the CEDR alternative dispute resolution system. I would give that a try as you have very little to lose.

Good luck. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
quick update on my case via CEDR.
finally, after over a year of BS from TC when going via resolver, I submitted via CEDR (note that if you lose you are liable to a £25 nominal charge to CEDR). TC stated the usual birdstrike "exceptional", but CEDR threw that out stating that birdstrike is normal daily occurence for an airline. unless they had to replace the engine or significant parts, then they should be able to inspect, clean debris out and get going ASAP.
Patience is a virtue, and finally after 13 months of stalling from TC I have a ruling in favour of full compensation for all four of us.
Anybody who is getting frustrsated, just stick with it, go via resolver and CEDR and at worst you have wasted a chunk of time and £25, and at best you get your compensation entitlement.

Can I suggest you report TC to CAA about their procrastination and obfuscation? It won't help yopu but others in future may benefit from CAA forcing TC to behave. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide
