Hello me again! Another update on my 26 month battle with TC to get compo that I'm legally due.....
TC did not pay me within 28 days as ordered and then the court stated they had another 14 days or something before defaulting for some reason(the judge took nearly 3 weeks to get back to me also to award interest of £5!!!!) so once the 14 days passed still not payment so I filed to get the bailiffs involved. They finally paid ...by cheque! which according to Manchester court they have to keep for a further 14 days before releasing finds to me!! So looks like it ll be September before I get the payment I'm due! It's a never ending story ! Can't believe the way they've dealt with my claim from start to finish, you
Couldn't make it up really but that's the latest on my never ending story!

    Hi endaf,

Some airlines do seem to enjoy putting you through the mill, TC are not the only one. It is frustrating but you will get the compensation that you are due fairly soon.

If you still have the will power and fortitude you could report them to the CAA. They are the only ones who could do anything about the awful way you have been treated.

Good luck and good result to:)

Just got paid out by TC!!!

They did try to wriggle out of it at first on grounds that flight wasn't more than 3hrs delayed but I remembered that I'd been having a Facebook chat at the time about our very long delay. I managed to find it (over 4 years ago!) and send them a screenshot which included date and times
if anyone else who was on that flight from paphos to Bhx (diverted to man) during early sep 2011 is reading this, I'll be happy to share my evidence if you need it
    Hooray for MSE and resolver!!!

Well done. Airlines dishonest and lying to the paying customer? Who would ever have thought it?

In this instance I would report TC to the CAA for lying.
  • Just wanted to share a fairly remarkable good news story with you all. My family suffered a 6 hour delay to our Thomas Cook flight from LGW to Cancun on 21 July. I submitted a complaint on 13 August and got an email this morning confirming we'll get £2100 compensation within 10 days!

So Thomas Cook turned that around in just over one working day. That must be some kind of record!

A great outcome, and much more professional than Thomson who dragged out my claim two years ago and only paid up when we'd got as far as a court date.

Really?! Would it be worth it? Well it was never clear how long the delay was as plane didn't land at scheduled it's airport. It takes about 2hrs by coach from man to Bhx so....but yeah they were crap - stuck on runway for over 2hrs with no drinks then bused back again without access to a drink arriving back to Bhx at 1am

Delay is calculated from the time you should have arrived at BHX to the time the bus dropped you at the Birmingham terminal building, assuming that's what they did.
  • Hi

we have recently returned from Turkey where we had a 20 hour delay departing. We were given £7 food vouchers and accomodation for the night as we flew the following day. I have contacted TC who have offered the standard 400 euro to each of us.
My query is whether we are right to ask for additional compensation as being 20 hours late departing we missed a whole day of the package holiday we paid for (TC are saying this is covered in the flight delay compensation). As a family we were also placed in a lesser standard accomodation that night than others, had only 3 beds when there were 4 of us and were not given any food vouchers whereas other were given £15 each. They have offered a £100 goodwill gesture ? Your experiences and advice would be appreciated as this is the first time that we have ever experienced something like this

If you were not issued with refreshment vouchers (unsure if you were or were not) then the airline should refund you for your purchases under EU261 duty of care if you send in receipts
The airline should provide accommodation but I am not aware of any standard - where did the 4th person have to sleep?
  • Hi

    Hope someone can help...

I'm not sure where to look but basically I had a Thomas cook package holiday in August 2011. Booked through the shop, so no emails to check back on!

I know I flew out on 28th August and back on 2nd September but I can't remember which airline actually flew us, it may not have been a Thomas cook plane - is there somewhere I can check?

The flight home from Mahon to Gatwick was significantly delayed - we received meal vouchers to use in the airport - is there somewhere I can check how delayed it was and if I can apply for compensation?

    Thanks!
