Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Thomas Cook ONLY

On 30th March 2007 three of us were booked on Mytravel flight MYT51 from Gatwick to Salvador (Brazil).
The flight was delayed by nearly 12 hours during which time we were given a room at an airport hotel.
I have a letter from Mytravel putting the delay down to “late release from scheduled maintenance”.
I have the flight coupons which have a Thomas Cook logo on them. It was booked through First Choice Travel.
Who should I approach? Am I going to have time to make a claim for this before the 6 year time limit?
Would I be better going to an agent to recover the money because of the lack of time? Any advice welcome
You are almost out of time to claim - end of the month. You need to write to the airline (now merged with Thomas Cook I think?) and give the 14 days to respond. If you don't do this, and then start court proceedings before the 30th, you won't be able to take this further.0 -

I called thomson (who we booked through) and got the supplier ref number from them (thomas cook supplying the holiday) and sent it off in another email to them. I suspect that if they were going to rubbish my claim due to EC then they wouldn't have bothered asking me to prove that I was on the flight?0

It costs them peanuts to keep asking you to jump through hoops, asking for things that are not legally required.
Most will give up the claim and that is the company's aim.
Remember that this is a Civil Matter governed by Law, it's not something that is for the airline to decide the timetable on.
Write using a template in the FAQ's (NBA) and give them 14 days to settle or you'll be off to court without giving them further notice.
AND DO IT!
Only then will the airline take you seriously. They have to, or the court will find against them in their absence and you can ultimately send the bailiffs in lol0 -
I chased Thomas Cook by email again on Monday, with regards to a 26 hour delay from Cancun to Gatwick on 2nd July 2008. I got yet the same cut and paste reply yesterday that I get every time I ask for an update (see below). They agreed to look into my request on 28th Jan 2013, but it seems like nothing is happening. Do you think I should write back and say if they don't give me an answer within 7 days I am referring them to the CAA? When they do finally reply they'll probably quote extraordinary circumstances as a reason not to pay out!! I'm not going to give up and will take them to court if necessary!

You are wasting your time writing further. Time for NBA, 14 days notice to pay up or court it is.
You have to write this (put them 'on notice' of court action) as part of the legal process.0 -
