  • hi i was wondering if anyone else was on this flight and had any information we was traveling from dalaman on the 12th July and was delayed by 27 hours we was put up in a hotel which was a ok hotel food i wouldn't feed to my dog the reps that were dealing with us were stars but the manger was a not so very nice lady we have made our complaint i did mine over the phone as i had other things that i had to complain about due to landing we had further issues we are still waiting on a reply from Thomas cook but not having made a complaint and claim for compensation i was wondering if anyone else had had these issues with this or other flights
  • We had a 24 hour flight delay on the 1st June to cephalonia. I must say it has all been handled extremely well. Airport staff, Thomas cook offices etc. We were immediately given very generous vouchers for breakfast, told to return 2 hours later then they would have further info. We did, they did! nearby hotel booked, transport to and from arranged, meals provided, and plane chartered for the same time the following day. Thanks to other customers in the queue we found out in addition to this we would be able to claim compensation form the company ( insurance useless due to excess!). So on return we completed our letter, thanks for the template. Yes, on the 28th day we received full compensation, despite actually asking for far less than we were entitled to. The only disappointment is that we have it in vouchers not cash which we asked for. Others in the flight queue were actually traveling using vouchers from a previous delay!! So now planning a very unexpected holiday in the autumn
    Happy:j

We recently had a twelve hour delay with Thomas Cook 12th July returning from Mahon Menorca, yes a 2h 10m flight can be delayed for half a day (the worst half a day of my life)
This delay was due to a technical problem, this problem however affected the flight to menorca from manchester which, when everybody got off, we would then board.......
    My question :
If flight tcx2442 from Manchester to Menorca (06:00am 12th July) is delayed because of a technical fault, is my flight tcx2443 Menorca to Manchester (10:40am 12th July) delayed because of the technical fault or due to a knock on effect?.
Reading on here it seems there is a very grey area regarding technical faults deserving compensation.
    Thanks in anticipation.
    Gaz.

Your flight was delayed due to a technical (not extraordinary) problem on a previous flight which had a knock on effect to your flight. As the delay was over 3 hours you are entitled to a 400€ compensation payment per passenger. If you feel this is a 'grey area' you may be better using a no win no fee firm which will reduce your 400€ to a little under 300€ per person.

We have now heard from the Solicitors for Thomas Cook who have filed their defence to the court. They have stated that the delay was down to an engine fuel filter clog on a subsequent flight which then lead to the delay on ours. They have asked us to agree to our claim being stayed as the court will most likely agree to this until the outcome of the Jet2 case? Should I agree to this or make them file a request to the court?

I would agree to it so long as they provide documentary evidence that the Court concur with this proposal. You may wish to mention that your interest charges due to non payment are clocking up from the date of the delay!

they will get the stay no matter what you do, this seems to be the norm now. If they fail, airlines will pay up before the hearing and hey guess what? they don't pay the interest!
