Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Thomas Cook ONLY

  • Hi - does anyone know how I can progress my flight delay claim? I am trying to claim compensation from Thomas Cook. The flight in question was from Rhodes in 2010. We were delayed for over 24 hours and when we finally got on the plane it flew to Gatwick airport and we were then bussed to Newcastle which took another 5 hours! Thomas Cook offered me £100 off my next holiday! I took the matter to the next step and I filled in the required forms and sent them to the Greek airline authority as the flight was from Rhodes. They acknowledged receipt. This was in October 2013. I have communicated by email with them. The last I heard from them was in February when they said they were still waiting for a reply from Thomas Cook. I have emailed them 3 times since and they just haven't responded. Has anyone else had any experience of this and if so, what do I do next?

Take them to court. A view from the Greeks will have no significant bearing in a court case: and the airline won't respond to a view from the Greek NEB anyway. Get a move on and start legal action!

need advice, as my claim goes back to 30 May 2008. I'll make it as short as possible. Arrived at Gatwick around 8am for the 11am flight to Toronto. Noticed no queues, at the check-in, was handed a letter, saying flight would be delayed,"keep watching the screens". Around 11am, were informed there was no flight and given a letter as proof of eligibility to stay at the Airport Hotel. Informed of meeting at 7:30pm. The TC Official offered refund or flight the next day, and kept saying "YOUR INSURANCE WILL COVER EVERYTHING". Told to report to check-in at 6am 31 May. Flight left around 10:30am, but was going to Manchester. Waited on board plane for Manchester passengers to get off and on, before departing around 14:30 pm. I had pre-booked Hotel and Car-Hire, so lost the money for both approx £250. Made a claim and went as far as the Insurance Ombudsman, but received £40 compensation. My problem is that all the documents were sent with my claim, all I have is the Flight Number on the luggage label, which is :- TCX27L.
    PLEASE HELP.

    Thanks

You could still claim and the airline can then legally ignore your claim. Read the FAQs.

    Write to the airline.
When they ignore you, write to them again.
When they ignore you, write to them again.
When they ignore you, write to them again.
When they ignore you, write to them again.
When they ignore you, write to them again.
When they ignore you, write to them again.
When they ignore you, write to them again.

If you'd prefer to break this chain of events, stop writing.

The time limit to commence a *legal* claim is 6 years. Outside of this, the airline can ignore you without penalty or any sort of comeback.

All in the FAQ's on page one of every airline thread.
