After thinking about it and reading through the forum most of the night I think it is better if I went with bott and co to sort my claim out. The reasons are I don't think I could or will be able to put in so much time and I don't think I could pull it off.
Will let you know the out come.
Thank you all for your help.

We have been emailed a voucher for full cost of hol taken in August 2012 to Tunisia. We were delayed over 3 hours coming home. TC responded within 48 hours offering the voucher [£2033]. This equates to about 300 quid per member of our party. Are we entitled to cash rather than a voucher that is accompanied by the usual terms and conditions?0

If you search this thread on the word "voucher" you will find over 300 posts with the same question or answer....YES you can have cash!0 -
Razorsedge, thank you, I didn't realise there was a dedicated TC thread, never having used this site before.
Vauban, your post (and rudeness) was unnecessary. Ever heard of the saying 'If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?'... There are ways to word things!0 -

If you had been on the forum for more than a couple of days you too would be heartily fed up of people posting the same questions for which there are answers already very easily located. You created a new thread and typed 11 lines when you could have found the answer using the search facility in seconds. The forum is gradually becoming unusable because people won't do others the common courtesy of using it responsibly.0 -
I replied to Thomas Cook with this:
Hi ****,

As I have not signed an agreement to receive the compensation in travel vouchers, please could I have the compensation paid via electronic bank transfer as stated in Article 7 Right To Compensation:

3. The compensation referred to in paragraph 1 shall be paid in cash, by electronic bank transfer, bank orders or bank cheques or, with the signed agreement of the passenger, in travel vouchers and/or other services.

Bank Details:
They took a week to reply then 5 days after the reply the money was in my bank account.0 -
I was travelling on the tcx473 flight from Sandord to Manchester in July also. Patter months of too-ing and fro-ing including involvement of the CAA, I received an email fom Thomas Cook accepting liability.
As with previous posters, they tried to give me a voucher, which was politely declined, and the money was in my bank account within days. Don't give up.0 -
I have emailed a reply to T Cook using Winchy's wording. We will see what happens. Thank you for giving me confidence to carry on with this. The vouchers are not all that useful to us now. The original party has moved on job wise. I have medical issues that deter me from travelling abroad. Cash would be useful for a break or 2 in the UK. Thanks again.0

Success - whey hey
I was delayed on a flight home from Majorca last June (2013).
Copying the template and filling in my own details I then e.mailed requesting compensation on Monday 3rd February following your link..
I received an offer of vouchers for £424.00 (for two travelling) on Wednesday 5th February... I rejected this and asked specifically for cash.
I received an e.mail today Tuesday 11th February confirming an offer of the money.I called the number they gave and made arrangements for the full amount to be paid into my account.
Thanks so much - without your help/advice on the Martin Lewis website, I don't think I would of had the confidence...
This money has come at a time I really need it....0 -
So this is the next thing that CAA ought to be coming down hard on - TC paying out but repeatedly trying to fob people of with vouchers. Very unprofessionalIf you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide
