Wouldn't bother with the CAA. They will take MONTHS to even look at your claim before taking several more months to contact the airline (who won't bother to respond).
I know this as I complained to the CAA at the beginning of February and after several phone calls chasing them up they have only just looked at my file now at the middle of June with a standard email telling me it could take 4-6 MORE months to get a reply from the airline. They are a waste of time as TC is under no obligation to listen to them anyway. :mad:0 -
O M G after almost an 3 hours of searching through Jan 2007 past bank/ credit card statements I've only gone and found statement with full payment for the holiday in question ( WOO HOO) . Took these to the travel agent (who said they couldn't find me on the system over 3 weeks ago) and lo and behold there I am on their system I am now sitting with a well deserved cuppa and a huge smile as I now have in my possession my booking reference number and all details of the holiday . Ha TC stick that in your pipe and smoke it !!!!:j
They are obviously told not to "look very hard" on their system without a booking ref to make it more difficult for you.0 -
Pansypotter, please just send TC an NBA and then start a court claim, don't waste time on the CAA.
Pretty please?0 -

The suitcase label would have sufficed anyway
How on earth do you get one of them if you haven't checked a case in personally?0 -
Regarding flight TCX2663 Schedualed to land at Manchester at 11.35Pm on 25/9/2012. According to Flightstats.co.uk the official landing time for this flight was 04.40Am on 26/9/2012
I sent an email to TC claiming for this delay on 25/10/2012 . I now have had a reply from them. This is the relevant part of the letter.
'Although delays are rare, they can arise for a number of different reasons, and having carried out a full investigation the specific circumstances surrounding the delay to your own flight were of a technical nature, which were extraordinary, despite Thomas Cook taking all reasonable precautions necessary to prevent the situation. All aircraft can experience technical problems that are totally unforeseen, despite all reasonable attempts to ensure they are maintained to a good standard, in line with CAA regulations. These situations can be compared to the maintenance of your own car, which can break down at any time without prior warning, regardless of it's service history, and would be considered completely beyond the owners control.'
I have emailed them back asking for details of the 'Technical problem' so that I can pass this on to the CAA for their interpritation and also as evidence in a law court..
Will post any reply I get.0 -
I also had this reply for flight from Fuerteventura to Bristol on 23/03/13 which was delayed 7.5 hours. I asked for details of the techincal problem - they replied it was a 'private matter', so expect that standard letter next. I demanded a detailed explanation, so they then provided one, but are still adamant a 'blocked toilet' is an exceptional circumstance. I have now sent them a NBA. In the meantime, the Spanish CAA are investigating (not the UK one as the flight departed from a Spanish airport) and I am awaiting their report.0
