    I thought keeping it brief and to the point and just explaining the circumstances from my point of view,, not knowing the defence,, should be enough.. Don't know that the judge will be bothered to read loads of pages from what I can gather!! We'll soon find out! Did you get your court date Vauban?

    My Judge knew very little about Wallentin, he kept referring to extraordinary circumstances as exceptional circumstances and basically admitted to only spending 10 minutes reading through defence and claimant statements. He expected FULL explanations to the reasoning behind submitting claim and content of same.

    Hi everyone, I'm finally getting around to sending a letter as my flight was delayed due to technical issues in March.

    Would this be ok;

    Couple of questions;

    1) What's the best address to send it to? I've looked back through the thread and there are many different ones so not sure which to use?

    2) Is it worth adding 'via bank transfer / cash / cheque' to the end of the email? Everyone seems to be getting vouchers and then having to send back so not sure if I should add that line in or if it could cause an issue?

    Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

    Hi, not sure about your questions, but i think you can also add in the names of everyone in your party. Someone more in the know might be able to answer your other questions.

    Just a quick update from my side

    I submitted an online claim form to the courts on 7th May after hearing NOTHING from 3 letters i sent to TC. The CAA came back to me and stated they thought i had a case.

    I have now received a letter from Northampton County Court stating the TC have until 26th May to respond.

    So.... who knows what will happen next?! If the previous is anything to go by, they wont respond at all!

    I have just submitted my claim for a TC flight from Paphos to London which was delayed by 6.5 hours. The reason for the delay, which was written on a letter we given at check in, was "operational reasons". Once we boarded the plane the pilot informed us it was "operational reasons because planes were not where they were meant to be". I've never heard this reason before and wondered what my chances are for compensation? Ive used the standard MSE template but am imagining they are going to fob me off saying its EC, so need ammunition to go back to them with!

    Can anyone tell me approximately how long they waited for a reply from T/Cook to their initial letter of claim? I sent mine on 1 April 2013 and so far have not received a reply. Just wondered if this was the norm or if there is another route?

    Thanks, I thought as much! I was under the impression it was their responsibility to make sure planes were in the correct countries/airports, so they cant claim the delays as being beyond their control in this instance.

    Also I've just found out there was a BBC Watchdog item on this while I was on holiday. Oh the irony....

    Usually takes a while, on account they are a right shower, and delay so many of their passengers. Then again people have posted and said they never got a reply at all. You have two options, either give them a prod by letter or email, which will probably involve another 6-8 week delay, or send them a NBA to show that you mean business.

    Watchdog feature still on i-player/internet however not really a lot of use as chap from CAA is lucky to have a job there IMO and programme didn't really resolve any issues.

    Dear All,

    Not to gloat, but I sent an email 14 days ago to the CEO of Thomas Cook flights. Received a response from the Directors office acknowledging my complaint dating back to 2011. Got a reply on Sunday gone; 12 May 2013, offering a :Tvoucher for £700.

    I advised that I had booked a holiday this year and may not take one next year, Voila........Cheque on its way to me in 28 days from Directors office for £700.:j

    Never in a month of Sundays did I expect a result so quick, so folks don't give up hope. By the way flight in question

    Corfu to Newcastle 27 May 2011 delayed 5 hours.

    Good luck.

    Hi Willarikk, just wondered how long you waited before you got an acknowledgement email and was your email the first contact you had with them about the matter?
