  • Hi, has anyone had any joy with a claim from Flight MON3727 from Sharm to Manchester on the 10th June 2012? So far they have given me 3 different reasons for a technical fault - 1) the plane from Orlando was delayed via a technical fault so there was no plane available for us 2) The cargo door was defective 3) undergo non-destructive testing due to the discovery of damage to the cargo door. I have received £50 compensation though due to being abandoned in the htel for a furher 5 hours and having to pay extra to use the facilities there (but this took 18 months to get)...Im currenlty waiting for the Supreme Court ruling in October to see if they will reopen the case for me.

I wouldn't rely on them doing anything. Assuming the Supreme Court rules in the "right" way, you'll need to take it up with the airline again. I suspect they will conveniently forget otherwise.

We were booked on this flight too and have had no luck, I remember the captain giving a speech about a plane being delayed but monarch responded to my claim with a technical fault of some sort. I was thinking of resubmitting the paperwork.
  • Anyone else tried to claim for delayed Gatwick to Dubrovnik flight 3rd May. Just got a reply denying that it was more than 3 hours late claiming it should have arrived 19.15 but arrived at 21.32pm so less than 3 hours. It actually arrived at 23.32pm. In fact I got a text from Monarch while delayed at the airport saying departure was delayed to 19.45pm so if it had landed at 21.32pm that would have meant a flight time of just over 45 mins which shows how ridiculous their reply is. I shall use the text as evidence if they don't correct their reply - small claims it will be in that case. Anyone else on that flight? It was originally supposed to depart 15.50 and they had already put back the departure time after we had paid for it which caused hassle with getting our hire car out of hours.

Bizarre. What does flightstats.com say about the timings?
  • Hi all,

I was delayed by 7 hours on a Monarch flight from Paphos to Gatwick in September 2009 - I don't think I have any of the paperwork/confirmation email etc. because I use a different email address now (although I may have the boarding pass up in the loft in my 'memory box' because I'm a sentimental bird!).

Was anyone else on this flight or know of anyone who has had any joy? I'm wondering if it's worth trying via the complaints procedure?

Many thanks in advance for your help :)

Other passengers' experience is of fairly limited value. Airlines don't automatically pay out; they make you work for it.

If you haven't found anything on this thread, I would assume you need to start from first principles.

Yes. You have been denied boarding, which is much more difficult for the airline to weedle out of using EC. Get your claim off.
Come back when they refuse to fin d out how to go to court.

Done - will update on progress. :o
  • Just got back from our jollies and guess what? Delayed with Monarch 3 hours 20 mins according to flight stats. Anyway in the letter they gave us they quoted the regs but also added that for delays over 3 hours but not more than 4 hours they only will pay out 50%, I have not seen this in the regs, is this correct?
This was a knock on delay from a previous flight having a problem and needed a wheel change.
Check out Vaubans Flight Delay Guide, you will be glad you did....:):):)

No not correct assuming your flight was less than 3,500km.
