Monarch delays & Compensations. Listed flights denied in O.P.

Hi they told us on the 16th October and you had to go into your booking and agree to the change.
Yes flight stats does show the 178 minutes delay BUT with a departure time of 11.50 - there is nothing showing the earliest departure time WE HAD TO AGREE TO!!
I agree with 111KAB: you have no claim, unfortunately. Monarch revised their flight times in advance of a fortnight's notice, extending the scheduled flight time in the process.
They can hardly have done this to frustrate your potential compensation claim. Unless they had a time machine. In which case where are their planes always so late?!0 -
A limit to what can be said publicly, but a quick update on my own case - which I started almost exactly a year ago.
After two hearings, both of which were adjourned at the request of the Defendant, I was expecting a written judgement on the 6th January. However, we have been called in for a further short hearing (15 minutes apparently) in mid-February.
I hope we are nearly there.0 -

I do hope the DJ will give the question of costs some sympathetic consideration. despite it being a "small claim", given what you have had to endure.
All the very best and I look forward to hearing the full story next month.0 -

There's a limit to what you can do to improve reliability when a) your fleet is old enough to have been constructed by the Wright brothers [I exaggerate for comic effect, but only a bit]; and b) you don't have the profit margins or reserves to buy lots of new 'planes.
Monarch's punctuality is so significantly below the standards of its competitors, but I'm not sure that prospective passengers yet understand this. If they ever do, Monarch will be in quite serious trouble IMO.0 -
Hi everyone.
Recently we were delayed on our flight back to the UK from Gran Canaria.
Thompson/First choice have rejected my claim so I'm moving on to the next step but not sure who to go to based on the chart provided by MSE.
Our flight was leaving Gran Canaria and obviously Thompson/First Choice are based in the UK, do I go to the CAA about this?
Thanks!0 -

You can do. Or you can take the airline to court. Have a read of some of the posts on here to deterimine you own view of how productive engaging the CAA is likely to be.0 -
I dont wish to diminish the OP.
But when I have been on flights that arrived ahead of schedule, I never paid them back!
I do realise that delays can cause mayhem and upset, but honestly, is it worth the hassle making a complaint? How much compo would you get? And how much time and effort would it cost to pursue?
I'm talking here about two or three hours or so, a half day or more, and I would look for something alright. Do they not provide a sandwich and a ðrink though to tide you over?
Sometimes delays are caused outside their control.
I am always prepared for this, a little bag with water, juice, a few croissants and CHOCOLATE!
And of course the Kindle.
Different if you have fretful kids, I admit.
But to me this kind of thing is just so part of travelling now, that I don't cre anymore.0 -

Well if you have arrived more than 3 hours ahead of schedule then you have been very lucky. That's the minimum delay that qualifies for compensation - 4 hours for long haul.I do realise that delays can cause mayhem and upset, but honestly, is it worth the hassle making a complaint?
If you don't think so, no it isn't. I think it is because I am a paying customer who has paid for a specified departure and arrival time.
I lost a day's holiday in America. That was an expensive holiday. I believe it is absolutely appropriate that my party and I are compensated. How much compo would you get? And how much time and effort would it cost to pursue
If you read the FAQs, the answers are there.I'm talking here about two or three hours or so, a half day or more, and I would look for something alright. Do they not provide a sandwich and a ðrink though to tide you over?
In a lot of cases, no they don't. I think we sat on the plane for 4 or 5 hours with no refreshments. But to me this kind of thing is just so part of travelling now, that I don't cre anymore.
Well, you will find plenty of airlines willing to take advantage of your preferences. The action that I and lots of others are taking will, somewhere down the line, encourage airlines to reduce delays so you'll thank us one day. At the end of the day, I value my time.0 -

I did not mean to offend at all.
Sorry If you took it that way,
I have the "Flight Radar 24" app and I was watching flights coming in and out of airports during the storms . Amazing feats. Many had to go around and try again. Many had to divert.
But in the end they all got their passengers safely on the ground.
I hope you are successful with your claim.0
