I did not mean to offend at all.

Sorry If you took it that way,

I have the "Flight Radar 24" app and I was watching flights coming in and out of airports during the storms . Amazing feats. Many had to go around and try again. Many had to divert.

But in the end they all got their passengers safely on the ground.

I hope you are successful with your claim.

I don't understand the point your making.

Delays due to poor weather don't qualify for compensation.

It's good that pilots are sufficiently skilled not to crash their planes, and that we have an aviation industry with a strong safety record. But forgive me if my criteria are a bit more exacting.

Too many in the airline industry have deprioritised the comfort and convenience of their passengers for too long - which is why the Regulation was introduced.

    Regrettably, the attitude persists.

ps I am not offended ;)

No worries, this is just an exchange of views, nothing personal.

But honestly, if we want total compensation journeys it will only be first or business class in a reputable airline really.

We get what we pay for. I'd say Michael O'Leary would have a laugh if you claimed any kind of compo from his company!

Does the same issue affect buses and trains, where there are leaves on the line, floods, and so on? just wondered if those who have to wait for hours in those modes can expect something aswell?

Weather, as with planes mean extraordinary circumstances however train compensation kicks in much earlier than 3 hours.

Court scheduled for mid February, pending appeals permitting. I'm just working through their defence and having a panic attack over some things I should have addressed before now.

    1. Defendant submits that my aircraft (G-DAJB) suffered a fault with the Pressure Regulating Shutoff Valve (PRSOV) reported by the flight crew on landing from the previous sector i.e. Not found during either pre-flight or normal maintenance checks. Does this make it a knock on? On the apology letter given on the ground it says the fault developed on departure.

    2. The fault was displayed through the centralised monitoring system. They say this fault cannot be due to failure to maintain the aircraft because it is constantly monitored and used during each and every flight. Does this make it more likely to be regarded as extraordinary?

    3. They submit they didn't have spare aircraft capacity within the fleet and made attempts to both offload to another carrier and got the destination airport to extend its closure time (night closure is from 21:00 but I don't know if that's local time.) Could that be construed as 'reasonable measures'? Should I have asked for evidence of these efforts before the hearing?

    4. Given that the fault arose on the inbound flight, is there any value in knowing what time it landed? Can I find out? My flight was due to land at destination 20:30 local time, which doesn't leave much time to fix any sort of fault before night closure kicks in if the inbound flight landed a short time before the outbound. We were first told about the delay after the scheduled departure time of 16:50.

Sorry for so many questions. I may well have read the answers already here but my head's in a bit of a spin - I've been doing this all day! Hope I'm not giving too much away putting this where Monarch can see them.

    All observations gratefully received.

    Thank you.

You did indeed but I think something a little more binary may be what the OP wants. So if I may be so bold:

Q do I go to the CAA about this?

    A No

For more details, please see Vauban's posting above.

    Hope that helps.
  • Monarch have finally agreed to pay compensation on this flight.
Flight MON303 which was the outbound flight was not originally delayeddue to technical difficulties; it hadn’t even landed at Manchester for thepassengers to board. Passengers did board the plane at 12:30 (4 hours after thescheduled flight time) only then to be advised that a fault had occurred andall passengers must disembark. The plane was already 4 hours delayed before thefault had even been found.

Well done. Did they say what the technical fault was?
