  • Probably seen by a lot on here but made some interesting reading for those that may not have seen/read it.

Flight delay compensation: It's an airline lottery for passengers

  • Hi,

Does anyone have an example of a MCOL submission they'd be willing to share?

Monarch paid me 50% of the compensation they owe me, so I'd like to claim for the rest. I found the letters and NBA examples on the thread helpful but couldn't see an example of an actual MCOL submission.

Have a look at the (slightly buried) "Taking the airlines to court" thread - there's a template there.
  • we were delayed on Monarch ZB509 out of Ibiza on 5th August. Sent letter & all documentation to Monarch for compensation. Received forms 7 days later requiring information on "circumstances & duration of the delay" along with boarding passes which I sent with initial letter. I have a copy of letter they handed out, one of the other passengers gave me theirs, as we weren't offered one. How can i find out the information required? Thanks

Don't worry about it - fill in what you can. Flightstats.co.uk has historic flight times (you may need to register) but if you don't know the exact details, it doesn't really matter. If you've got your flight itenerary you'll have the flight number and scheduled times - and if you have your booking reference so much the better.

But these are basically hoops that Monarch present, hoping they'll deter you. Jump through them if you can do it easily, but don't sweat it if not. Regardless you are likely to have a fight on your hands - Monarch aren't playing very nice.

Powerpack1 - If your flight was ZB0509 on 05.08.13 from Ibiza to Manchester you are entitled to 400€ per person as the distance is 1,634 km and your Monarch plane was scheduled to depart at 12.10 but departed at 4.06. The scheduled arrival was 1.55 with an actual arrival of 5.30 this is the important time fact for your claim). It is likely you flew on G-MONJ a BoeingB757 which first flew on 05.04.1988 ie the plane is over 25 years old and therefore more likely to have technical problems due to its age.

It's also likely that powerpacks flight was delayed due to knock on's. Not many engineers around at that time of the morning lol

Mark - apologies I did not use 24 hour clock as thought it easier for the poster to recollect however these were UK and Spanish PM times however your assumption re engineers not being around could be true as Spanish siesta time.

    Oh ok lol

So, a scheduled 12.10 departure ended up as 16.06 departure... meaning the previous sector flight hadn't even left the UK at 12.10.
So, a knock on, unless they were all looking out of the window at a broken plane for 4 hours?

I'm impressed! Where on earth did you get that info from? Do you have access to some special aircraft database?
