I've sent off a claim for a delayed flight in December 2008 - I know its within the allowed time but I haven't noticed anyone on this forum claiming back that far - do you think I have much chance? I have been able to give detailed timings as I wrote a travel diary and included the information we were given as to the 'technical problems'.
Will post back reply as soon as I have it.0 -

Your claim is as good as if it had happened yesterday.0 -

No matter. I can wait
You'll be dangling on a string for months on end otherwise.
It's perfectly reasonable to claim using a regular letter with all the details, and perfectly reasonable to expect a reply within 14 days.
You have had neither.
You WILL be going to court. Take that on board.
Well I took Mark2spark's advice and responded to Monarch stating that I had already supplied the information and had been very patient already so I did not intend to waste time filling out forms. We're now at day 12 of the 14 days that I gave them to reply.
One question though, (and apologies if it has been answered elsewhere). When I did eventually look at the forms, I see that they want separate forms for each adult, including copies of passports etc. Why would they need this? Isn't it the case that it's the person who made and paid for the booking that is entitled to claim, not anybody else?Debt free since December 2015. It can be done0 -

These are hoops that Monarch hope you will jump through with the sole purpose of delaying your claim and inconveniencing you. They already know you were on that plane. Any passenger for whom a fare was paid is entitled to claim.0 -

Wish I had realised this to start with. I have put only my name in the Claimant box as didn't realise you could put more than one. I have then refferenced my partner within the summay and claimed amounts for both of us.
I hope this doesn't void my case as we have paid the £60 upfront already.
The last day for Monarch to respond is today before we can proceed with a Judgement.0 -
Hi all just had my claim rejected by Monarch saying extaordinary circumstances due to an engine stall during the previous flight into Manchester resulting in an unplanned engine change. Flight number ZB 1354 Manchester to Dubrovnik 5-5-12, delay 4hrs 2 mins. Of course it was unplanned it was a faulty engine. What would be my next course of action?
Highlight its a mechanical failure and NOT extaordinary circumstances and ask them to settle my claim or its a small claims court?
Thanks in advance;)A fool and their money are easily parted.0 -

Even if the previous flight was subject to extraordinary circumstances which is most unlikely given the judgment in Frederike Wallentin-Hermann v Alitalia – Linee Aeree Italiane SpA (C-549/07), then your flight did not suffer from extraordinary circumstances as a knock-on effect of that (Finnair Oyj v Timy Lassooy (C-22/11)).
Send them a Letter Before Claim including this, and sue in 14 days.0 -

Thanks BlondMark quite willing to take them on as long as i have a chance of success. :T Needless to say i will keep people updated
On the facts you have an excellent chance of success. Don't get put off by any dodgy defences Monarch put in to confuse you - post their full defence here and we'll take it apart.0 -

Just to reassure you there's no problem claiming back to December 2008. I claimed for a flight in July 2008 and have sent off a NBA. If I dont get a reply by monday 18th, and I dont expect to, its off to the sherriff court for me."Sometimes life sucks....but the alternative is unacceptable."0
