Public services like passport, driving license, NHS are born-essentialities. We need them to carry on with a normal life unlike parking spaces or 14 day refunds.
.
Sorry but a passport is not needed, you can survive plenty well enough without.
Same for drivers license. Not a need.
NHS well I cant think of a special form you need to get off the net to use the NHS.
Plus there is always private, so again you do not need the NHS.63 mortgage payments to go.

Welcome to the real world, powerful_Rogue. Most employers will ask you to bring your passport on day 1 (some even on the interview day)...They specifically say driving license+address proof only if you do not have a passport. You still think they are not essential? Now please don't start another debate why not carry birth certificate with you on day1!....
Of course there are people who can't read labels on what they are buying +small prints, but it is alarming to know that there are also people out there who shut their eyes on realities....
Replying even though this is not for me, sorry.
No when you start a job they say bring Id, they give you a list if items. Passport/DL is on there but so is bank statement, birth cert, recent bill and proof of NI number. Don't know for everyone but I lost my NI card decades ago, yet I still find proof of it.
A passport is not the only thing you can use for id.
And theses sites, whilst reprehensible are legal. That's it end of story.
Whilst no one on here likes this kind of site, nothing as yet makes them illegal.63 mortgage payments to go.

In my view, life will be somewhat difficult without a driving license or Passport to prove identity, when/where required..Don't know for everyone but I lost my NI card decades ago, yet I still find proof of it.

numbers used by parcel scammers
September 17, 2009
This parcel delivery scam begins with a text from a UK mobilesaying "!"!!URGENT!! Large Parcel Awaiting Delivery. Please Call NOW on +4382091921605".
One victim was expecting a package but got through to a lengthy answerphone message that cost £9 because the number was registered in Austria.
Several firms shared her £9, including Telecom Austria and its client, a company in Switzerland called Ambavox AG, which supplied it to Keyzone Telecom, based in Cyprus.
Keyzone told us it gave the number to a firm called Maxtis, in the Czech Republic, which in turn passed it to Geoffrey Laffoley-Lane, of CFL Live Ltd, based in Redhill, Surrey.
Laffoley-Lane told them he had re-assigned the number to someone called Craig Johnson.
But Johnson's company name does not appear to exist and the address he used is that of a company formation agent in Aldermaston, Berks.
Johnson used at least three Austrian numbers through Laffoley-Lane, along with nine similar numbers originating in Sierra Leone.
The scam ran in October and November last year. Laffoley-Lane said he couldn't give us further details for Johnson for "data protection" reasons.
@Least it's ok because he's legal......he's regulated by the ICO.

I think legal vs moral vs ethical side of these websites is now becoming a boring and tired looking debate....
Rather, lets debate why the only genuine "check and send" passport service still exists sadly, only over a counter and person.:D

+1; Not just legal, treat him with some "compassion"; after all he is a human:D.0 -
You weren't scammed, tghey offered a service and you stumped up the cash.
The site even says " Our services are not in any way affiliated with any UK Government body including HM Passport Office ".
People just need to read things.
Passports-uk.co.uk is a deliberately misleading website trying to give the impression that it is an official site. The disclaimer that you quote part of is at the bottom of the home page in tiny print, far smaller than any of the other font sizes used on that page.
Uk-passport.net, which is what the thread was originally about, are very upfront about the type of service they are offering. On their home page the disclaimer is in the same size font as most of the rest of the page. They repeat the gist of this disclaimer at the bottom of the page. In a box they say they charge £72.50 but with IPS there's no charge for their service. They even provide a hyperlink to the Post Office's own website.
Uk-passport.net are very explicit about what they offer and are not being misleading in any way whatsoever, in my opinion. They should be congratulated not castigated.0 -

But that's just your view.
My Mum has reached the age of 82 without ever having a passport or driving licence - or needing either for the purposes of identification.0
