For details, quote as in example:
The website says, Complete your passport application or renewal online... could be easily mis-read as Complete your passport application for renewal online
You may not get an immediate refund but there is still light at the end of the tunnel. Wait for an outcome from the bank's end that would normally happen within 21 days.
Im sorry, but thats ludicrous! Who's fault is it if someone reads the work "for" instead of "or".
At the end of the day, the webiste looks nothing like that of the official passport website. The website explains numerous times that its only a check and send service. You also agreed that you read the terms and conditions - why do that if you didnt??
By all means attempt a chargeback, but dont make things up as hpuse as advised.0 -
Well, it's already been featured on TV. This will help a lot of people who could have been scammed by them. They would argue it's not scamming but it is! Why should they charge you an extortionate amount for a FREE service.
There is no logical explanation or moral justification to armour a business of this nature. However, the sad but truth is - they are legal.
Our society/community doesn't need it - otherwise Post Office would have started this "online service" ages ago.
So the BIG question still remains un-answered, who still needs this "legal thing"? My answer is simple - the conmen who knows how to "play it safe". Period.0 -

Its not difficult to understand really.
Read what you are purchasing. That will stop people purchasing in error.
Only people that really need the service will then purchase it. If not enough people do that then the sites will close.
Regardless, there are a lot of people in the country that have been given British citizenship and as such allowed to apply for a British passport. English may not be their first language - this kind of site may appeal to them for the extra assistance.
As it stands, the sites are legal and have been investigated by the OFT and deemed legal.0 -

It's "legal" not to pay parking charges/fines/notices when you abuse the free parking at a shop. There are "conmen" on here who advocate that. Should they be stopped?
What about the people who encourage others of ways to get refunds when they are not due them? They are conning other people out of money.
This site has many people on it who exploit the law to their advantage and cannot see the damage that their actions cause, nor do they care about it. If the same thing happened to them that they do to others, they'd be up in arms.
Is it legal? Yes. Is it moral? No. Is it ethical? No.
But most of the time this forum does not care if the advice given is moral or ethical, only if it will stand up in a court.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
I won't even waste my time replying to the people who just want to tell me AGAIN what I should have done. I know I should have read the terms and conditions BEFoRE I created a contract! I know I should have reviewed the site better! I am aware that they put an advisor on the site below the visual page that would have saved me all this hassle! Please refer to my first post that states this already. I know these companies are legal even if I don't think they should be.....
I am pleased that some of you out there have so much time on your hands to tell me things I already know and to basically just tell me I'm an idiot. Your responses are much appreciated (sarcasm obviously as I really think you must be very sad lonely people without careers or family or other things to occupy you that you want to make a complete stranger feel even more stupid than they already do).
As someone who clearly understands all there mistakes, I am ONLY asking advise from anyone who knows if there is anyway that I could get my money back.
I really have no interest in the sad know it alls who want to make themselves feel clever and trumped up with their knowledge of what I did wrong...... SURPRISINGLY as a very well educated person with a professional career and lovely full life, I already know exactly what I did wrong so please don't waste your time and mine with your rather ridiculous comments. Especially as most of you need to learn some decent grammar before you write sentences (childish comment I know but true)0 -

Now theres no need to be offensive is there. If you look and read correcty, you will see the last few posts are quoting and replying to someone else, not yourself.
You've been told to contact the company and speak to your bank in regards to see if a chargeback is possible. I dont know what else you want people to say.0 -
For those lovely kind people who are trying to help me. Thank you. Your ideas and information are really helping.0

OK I agree one must "read what you are purchasing", but please stop repeating the same mantra. If the whole world was filled with careful people reading small prints and t&c's would that be a reason to justify the "legally existing" online service providers business relevance and existance?. Please get real.
Public services like passport, driving license, NHS are born-essentialities. We need them to carry on with a normal life unlike parking spaces or 14 day refunds.
That is why I said if there was a "real" genuine business case for an online service like this Post Office would have started the same ages ago. Well, ages before these conmen started dreaming about hosting a website and copy-pasting information across application forms and rip money, of course all legal....0 -

You make it sound like its difficult or a chore to read what you are about to buy! Its not hidden away in the t&c's, nor in the small print - Its there numerous times on the front page advising the site is only a check and send service.
If people were to read what they were purchasing, they wouldnt be here complaining!
I didnt talk about parking spaces not 14 day returns, your getting me confused with another poster.
NHS I agree is an essential, however driving licence and passports are not. Not every can or wants to drive, same with going abroad.
Its upto the post office what they want to do. Have you contacted them and asked them why they havent started to offer this service online, or are you just guessing?
Why not put your energy into complaining to your MP or the OFT?0 -

I have tried to contact the company but their phone line is dead and they won't reply to my numerous emails. My bank are not very helpful at the moment. I have to wait 15 days to see if they provide the paperwork then raise a dispute. Obviously they will provide the paperwork, wouldn't anyone provide a piece of paper when they have charged £69 to do so. I imagine then that I won't have a leg to stand on!!!!
I'm sorry people don't see it as a scam but I do and I'm entitled to my opinion. If it helps others the bank immediately said they were aware of the scam company (their words, not mine) and Said the same thing is happening with driving licenses also. At least I won't fall for that.0
