My point is, don't you think these noobs on the internet deserve a second chance for their 15/20 seconds of negligence of not reading the internet t&c's and labeling/warning system in place? .
Or is it still justifiable for any business to pocket such cash with stringent t&c's as long as the business is legit/legal?

Same way as you get fed up seeing race to the bottom all time, everyday I come across more people showing less compassion in life to others.....

If your old enough to apply for a passport and have a bank account, your old enough to read the numerous warnings on the website to advise its only a check and send service. I dont see what relevance it has as to whether your new to the internet or not.

Move away from the t&c's for the moment - what about all the warnings in plain view on the homepage?

I show compassion to people that I believe deserve it. Someone thats paid for a wrong service because they couldn't be bothered to take 15 seconds to see what they are buying dosent deserve compassion in my opinion.

But these companies don't have to justify it.
They know they need to operate within the law to avoid being closed down.
You are getting confused between legality, justification, morality and ethics.

Compassion will not get these people their money back.
Advice to check if there is a refund policy may get their money back.
Advice to lobby anybody and everybody about these websites may help someone else in the future.

Maybe if all the people who have used these unofficial websites did this, things might change.

Where is the compassion to future potential users of these websites in this statement (from someone who used one of these unofficial websites offering passport renewal)?

Iv'e written off the money and moved on.

Wouldn't you expect someone who has been a 'victim' to maybe want to do something about it?

As long as this attitude exists, things will just continue and more & more of these types of websites will spring up to trap the unwary to part with unnecessary money.

    So don't lecture about 'compassion'.

It is not a question of age/old/maturity, powerful_Rogue.
Basically the nature of every human to err, that includes all of us.

The point is, if this company has legit rights to operate, then every customer has also got same equal rights to make error on their judgements while making a purchases online....
So yes, in that view they deserve a refund for the err not based on t&c's they strictly impose on them.

The only difference here is, as you would agree - not many services out there are designed to err people as passport and driving license con sites do with strict non-refundable t&c's.

You may feel they have 'equal rights to make an error' but that makes not one whit of difference in the circumstances we are discussing.
They may 'deserve' a refund but they won't get one - unless it is part of the company's policy to refund.

Let's concentrate on 'legality' rather than what someone deserves.

Its always someone elses fault isnt it. Never the fault of those too lazy or those that couldn't be bothered to read what they were buying.

    I'll blame it on advertisements.

Why do people click on those adverts?

After all, they are clearly marked as adverts, aren't they?

    Edited to add:
Did anyone else notice that unusual spelling of because?

It's not that unusual - several sock puppets on here spell it that way. ;)
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

Sorry - that was just another spell error that shouldn't happen like people clicking uk-passport.net.
