  • I am currently on O2 online with 750 xnet mins and 750 texts. When I found out about the new Tariffs a couple of days ago, I rang them they confirmed to me that my T&Cs haven't changed, ie 0845 0870 numbers will remain to come out of my minutes. They said as long as I am not changing my Tariffs then everything will stay the same. I am due for an upgrade in August this year, they have also advised me that I can request to keep the same tariff with the same T&C's. Obviously I will double check this in August when I am due to upgrade. If they decided to start charging me I will simply request to cancel and contract and see what they say.
On another note I understand Carphone warehouse although they have new O2 tariffs they at the moment are not charging extra for 0845 0870 numbers. It might be quoting this when negotiating any upgrade directly with O2.
    So watch this space!!

I have now emailed them - this is the reply

Thanks for emailing us to find out the charges for calls to 0870, 0845 and 0800 numbers.

Calls to all 08 numbers (0800, 0808, 0870, 0871, 0844, 0845) with the exception of Telephone Helpline numbers will be charged at 20 p per minute. Calls to these numbers won't be a part of your inclusive allowances. Calls to 0870, 0845 and 0800 numbers were part of your inclusive allowance but this has changed from 27 April 2007.

But I have just phoned them again and was told that retentions/Upgrades can still put me on tariffs which include these minutes within my inclusive minutes but I need to phone when I am 30 days away from the end of my contract which is 6th may.

Having these minutes within my inclusive minutes is a big incentive (if the price is right) to staying with O2 - so anyway on the 6th May i will find out who is telling the truth.

Are these numbers included in other network tariffs?

I am now in my 30 day end of contract period so they can now officially talk to me about deals - we have just talked but it was not really exciting talk - £25 for 250x minutes and 100 texts and a credit of £100 but they said that the NG numbers would be included as this offer is an old tariff, they are not included in the new tariffs - an example was given of the new tariff with £35 for 600 minutes and can't remember how many texts and extra minutes/texts at the weekends

Q: What do I do when my current contract expires?
You should be able to continue with your existing tariff plan/contract that includes 0870 and 0844 numbers simply by not upgrading and by not changing to a new tariff plan. Please contact O2 directly regarding your contract status and options.

does this mean i am stuck with my old phone all the time if i want to keep 0845 numbers etc...
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.:D

SimplyFone have already introduced 2 alternatives for new O2 users/upgrades from 27/04 & T-mobiles from next 1st June & can be used by ALL other Mobiles [vodafone/3g etc..] at:
http://www.simply-fone.com/mobile_tmobile.php recommending: https://www.simplytext2talk.com (also supports cheap Int Texts) and https://www.cheapestchat.com:beer:

You are telling porkies and know full well being one of the alias,s the SF Spammer uses, that the services you spam about were not introduced to cover the withdrawal of access codes from inclusive minutes. They have been in existent some time.;)

    YUP.

CPW O2 customers can continue to enjoy using 0870/0844/0845 etc. numbers from their inclusive free minutes each month. I still do and I only just took out a new upgrade, don't get charged for these numbers seperately. Unlucky for O2 direct customers :)

should stick with CPW O2! :)
