Hey there you two.
Try not to get too discouraged with the renovations, you guys will get there! We're having a shower room put into the house and it has been plagued with problems including someone having a heart attack and another having an arterial bleed..
Payday is just the best day of the month isn't it? So much progress made in just the one day.0 -
Had a nice last few days with the beautiful weather we have been having!
Went to see Wicked on Thursday night with OH and had midwife appointment on Friday where we heard baby's heartbeat
Went to B&Q where we brought some more housey bits and managed to do a bit of painting and a mountain of washing this weekend with the sun being out!
Went to park with kids yesterday too!
Got £95 left in bank at the minute but will probably only have £50 left by end of month if I am careful as got massage/cat insurance and pregnancy yoga to pay for.
My Dad is giving us £1000 to buy baby bits with so thats a big weight off my mind as should be able to get pretty much everything for that!
Still not sure on how I am going to get some savings though.
Looking like when we remortgage we might have to borrow some extra to clear our debts which is a shame as means all the mortgage payments for last two years will be cancelled out..Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
Is Wicked as amazing as everyone says? I've been dying to go but can never seem to find the pennies! xLaura 20.08.14 ♡ Ivy 05.07.13

So just checked mortgage balance and its £101,634.91 so only £300 less than last time I checked!
Bit depressing....
Looking like we might get bonus at work this month which would be good as means I will be able to make an extra payment to one of the debts!
Joint account has dropped to lowest of £1800 this month so thats not too bad, will be lower than that once I am on maternity leave though!
Our tumble dryer has packed up tough!Hoping we can fix it but if not will just have to try live without one until winter comes. Its still spinning so looks like it might be the heating element/thermostat.
And our fridge looks like the door is going to fall off!
All fun!!!
Oh Wicked was ok, not as good as I had hoped but still good. Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
Rubbish at updating this!
Not a lot to report on the money front. I forgot to post this ages ago but my Dad has given us £1000 for the baby which is a great help as we should be able to get most stuff with that!
We haven't brought much stuff so far, I need to calm down on buying baby grows..... I have only brought stuff from Tesco and Primark so its not like I am buying from GAP but my best friend has given me a lot of her daughters clothes too, like a couple bin bags full so I am currently washing all those.
Then we need to sort out what sizes we have and see what we do need to get.
I have spent £70 on a Isofix car seat base and we are going to get our buggy soon too which will be £300 including car seat.
Then we have furniture to get too! But I am looking at second hand furniture anyway.
Oh and if you hadn't spotted the word daughter above it looks like we are having a little girl!
Pay day in 10 days, I should have some money left over from this months wages although I am off work this week.
My car needs a service though and Spencer needs his booster jabs
Still need to get tumble dryer fixed, luckily its warm so thats not so much of an issue but need to get it sorted before baby arrives when washing machine will be on every five seconds! Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
Ordered our buggy and car seat yesterday after seeing them in Mothercare and deciding I can live with the yellow!
So thats another £299 spent out of the £1000.
Did it via TCB though so getting £13 back from there!
I ordered it on my Barclaycard credit card as still got 2 months 0% purchases and wanted to get some reward points too.
Double checked the mortgage yesterday and its down to £101261 but it does expire in May so need to sort out seeing mortgage advise ASAP!
Rates have dropped quite a bit since last time so looking online we can get a mortgage for about £550 a month which is £110 less than we pay now which will be good as we can overpay that £110 each month then if we can (although really we will only be on one wage for at least next year!).
Will probably need to move halfway through new term as well as once baby is about six months old we are going to struggle for bedroom space!
God knows how we are going to find an affordable 4 bedroom house but we need to because OH's kids are too old to share a room now as could hit puberty any day!!!
Whatever we do buy needs to be suitable for us to live in for at least next 10 years until OHS kids are grown up.
But I am sure all will be ok, if we didn't have our credit card/loan debts then we could afford a bigger mortgage so will all be about clearing debts ASAP and hoping we find a house we can afford! Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
Well done on the cashback for baby's things, it all makes a difference!
A good financial advisor should be able to sort out the best option for you if you know you need to move quite soon then at least you won't need a long fix and might be able to get a better short term fix with a lower interest rate.
How do you feel about downstairs bedrooms? I can't seem to stop myself looking on rightmove and a lot of the '4 bedroom' houses have 1 (or 2) bedrooms downstairs, so you could always sacrifice a dining/reception room for an extra bedroom in a new house.0 -
One of his kids could have a downstairs bedroom that wouldn't be a problem.
Our other option is to look at 3 bedroom houses in the area we want to live but with good loft access so we could convert the loft into a bedroom for one of the kids as they are only here 50% of the time and there is the possibility thats going to reduce more in the next few years.
Looking like we might borrow some extra on the mortgage to clear my loan off.... I am not particurly keen on this as its my debt so don't want OH to have to deal with it but its not looking like I am going to be able to clear it by August although it should be down to £6300 by then.
But I am not going to be able to afford to pay off £200 a month after August.
Need to ring HSBC and get a settlement figure.
In good money news my nan has now given us £300 for the baby so thats the buggy sorted! I haven't dipped into my Dads £1000 yet but I am down to that in the bank now.
Get paid on Friday and getting bonus this month and hopefully next month too which will help but need to get car serviced this month too....:oNow a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
Aww congrats on the girl! Super excited for you (although sad to hear Wicked didn't live up to expectations).
Well done on the buggy too -a friend and I drove to Southampton to pick mine up around this time last year. I had seen one in mamas and papas that I fell in love with, then got it off preloved for less than £150 and she threw in a load of clothes as wellstill feel savvy when I look at it!

Preloved sounds like a brilliant way of getting the baby needs, I look on there to get my furniture ideas.
If the kids aren't going to be there, I would say 3 beds is a good way to go. Sharing a room is not really a problem, I shared with my sister until I was 18.0
