  • Well its been 2 months since I posted that list and zilch has been done....

Debts are about the same level too. And just had my car insurance renewal at £432.

Paid some more off the loan which will save me some overall interest but I just keep moving the credit card debts around, just borrowed cash off the virgin card at 0% (4% fee) to pay off the 0% balance fee that is due to expire in Dec and I really need to start clearing them so going to have to sort something out although not sure what yet....:o

Panicking a little about christmas pressies already.....

2014 needs to be the year of clearing loads of debt and getting pregnant!!!

Have you had any sign of your mortgage statement yet? I was expecting ours the beginning of Oct like last year but still nothing!

Wish that meant it didn't exist...haha

    We got ours last week.

Have paid £4206.28p in interest since our last statement :eek::eek:

I want to get the mortgage under £100k by time its up for renewal in July.

    Thats doable just about....

I need to work out an action plan this week to do some debt shifting/overpaying....

Action plan not sorted yet but I have been jigglin debts about on the credit card with balance transfers.

I should have made a note of how many balance transfers I have done in the last 2 years though really and seen how much money I have paid in fees.

I am sure I could go through all of my old statements if they are online.

My credit card debts are at 0% but now stand at £4520 which is all on my Virgin Credit Card..... Had to pay my car insurance this month which has upped the figure by £383....

I will need to do some more shifting around in December again to keep rates at 0%, I do have an available offer from Tesco credit card for a 0% until Jan 2014 but need to work out how much to transfer still.

I did accidently pay £175 extra off my loan this month though, thought I was paying off my HSBC mastercard (which I clear every month) but was paying my loan.....

At least its lowered that amount, I have managed to pay off over £3k of that in the last year now but suspect the interest I am saving on the loan being paid back quicker is being eaten up by balance transfer fees.

I could really do without Christmas this year!

2014 is defo going to be debt busting year..... Back in 2009 I felt so proud when I cleared my debts, need to get back to that again as I really want to get on top of the mortgage next.

I have good intentions but they get overruled by shiney things.....:o

My car I do intend to keep for at least 5 years if not longer though so I still feel its a worthwhile investment, and I do love her....:o

Bit of a epic fail on the debt busting front!!!!

I paid my Virgin Card on the day it was due but the money didn't go in until the day after so I have lost my 0% promotional rates for that card!!!

    :mad::(:mad:

All my own fault I know but so annoying!

Luckily I was going to transfer most of it this month anyway onto my Tesco credit card so have just transferred £3400 onto that at 0% until Jan 2015 but still have £1200 on the virgin card.

I rang them and they cannot reinstate the 0% but he has dropped the apr to 9.9% instead..... so I will pay £120 interest on if i don't pay that off in a year.

Means that overpaying the loan will have to go on the back burner for a couple of months whilst I clear that......

Christmas was going to be on a budget, will be even more so now!!! :o

Aww lil, that really sucks that you've lost your 0% deal. Is there another deal for you to get?

How are you setting up for christmas? I've been scooping little bits up from charity shops so that my budget per person is only around £15 and I'm buying for maybe 5-6 people. Some people are only getting £5 spent on them though.

Best of luck with the debt busting.

I could try getting another 0% card but I am loathe too at the moment as I already have 3 credit cards, my mortgage and my loan!

The guy said as it was only 1 day late it won't affect my credit rating....hope not!

First time I have ever made a late payment....

Its not the end of the world though and I will just try and pay it off in a few months....:o

Christmas......bah I hate it.....well I hate that I have to spend money I don't have......I am quite bah humbug, dont like buying OHs kids toys as they look at it all like its rubbish and then never play with it!

They are at that age where toys are not so interesting anymore....

So far my Christmas spends are

    Friend 1 £7 for 1 present (budget £20)
    Friend 1s husband £8
    Friend 2 £9 for 3 presents (budget £20)
Friend 2's son £32.36 *his birthday is on Dec 4th so got his xmas and birthday pressies*, He loves spiderman at the moment so ordered him a load of stuff related to spiderman from Amazon
DSD £34 (boots 3 for 2 presents so far) *Unsure of budget, want to get cheap presents but a lot of them so looks more!*
OH £25 for 1 present *prob spend about £100 on him.....:o*

Have my two nieces to buy for too, budget £15 each, friend 1s daughter at £15.

Then my Dad and my Nan, friend 2s OH, Stepson and thats it! 13 in total.....

Its also my Nans 80th birthday next weekend and DSSs 11th birthday as well so December is an expensive month......

I do have £100 of argos/tesco vouchers to use so that helps but I cant see anything I want from Argos for the kids, it is all tat!!! :o

Might have to see if I can use the argos points on friends instead!

So with the credit card drama too I dont need christmas really.....

I've been seeing some of the argos storage units which seem to be pretty good if any of your friends need practical presents. But wow you have a lot to buy for, ouch.

The most I've ever spent on a partner in one present was £60 and I was not best pleased to do it. But then, my longest relationship has only been 2.5 years so it has always been a bit short term. :rotfl: They're expensive creatures these partners aren't they?

Try not to let the mistake get you down too much, it happens to everyone, you can get this paid off! I for one managed to not pay for my credit card purchase of £3.70 and received a fine of £12 recently  I'm a numpty

    Right.....

Sorted out the credit card issue..... I think! :o

Yesterday I applied for the Fluid credit card and got accepted for £2100.... I then realised that I can't transfer from Virgin onto it because my virgin card is owned by MBNA and so is Fluid......:o

I was thinking of keeping it and just taking a cash transfer at 4% to pay off the outstanding amount.

But tonight I applied for the 27 month 0% barclay card freedom rewards credit card and I got accepted for that.... with a credit limit of £9,500 :eek::eek::eek:

It also has 6 months 0% purchases and loyalty scheme.

Soooooo I now need to ring up and cancel my application for the Fluid card and just use the Barclay Card to transfer my virgin card onto that.

Tempted to transfer the tesco card onto the barclay card too but OH thinks I am being silly, yes it will cost more now but then I don't have to worry about it for 2 years and can solely concentrate on paying off my loan......
