Mines pretty clean but i have problems keeping it tidy as i don't have enough storage (problem with living in a new build, they rarely have much storage space)

Storage is my main issue, we are in the process of buying more, but I feel like we're accumulating at a faster rate than we can store it  I really don't want to sell any of the old toys/clothes that aren't being used/too small etc, as I will hopefully have another and no point in selling stuff I bought brand new for pennies only to buy it again at a later date. We have good storage for a new build flat (2 massive hall cupboards) but I keep my 2 (yes 2  ) washing baskets in there, and then all the old toys in there boxes, my supplies of toiletries that were bought on bargains. I think if everything had a place, keeping things tidy would be so much easier. There always just little piles of things laying around, that don't seem to have a home.

  • Ours is very cluttered and the floors 'bitty' but as soon as I get the JEdgar out someone (7 of us) will moan about the noise so I usually use the dustpan and brush but the main problem is too much stuff and not enough storage space.

Our flat is filthy, and I'm too plain knackered to do anything about it!

Generally ours is reasonably clean and tidy, but not as good as I'd like.

We have people dropping in all the time, friends do once or twice in a typical week, and family pops in most weekends, typically with a very helpful 30 minute notice period!
  • We just moved house last November from a 2 bed flat to a 4 bed house, and having all the extra space is just fantastic. I'm not much of a hoarder anyway, but the clear-out before we moved has made sure that everything now has a proper home and nowhere is cluttered.

As we've had quite a lot of visitors over Christmas I've kept the place pretty spotless the whole time. I hoover probably twice a week, mop floors that need it once a week and follow the Flylady rule of having a shiny sink every night. I never leave dishes until the next day and it's always lovely to come down in the morning to a clean and sparkly kitchen.

The job I really hate is cleaning inside the glass shower cubicle, but I do find that no-rinse shower cleaning spray really good, that you just squirt on when you've had a shower. Really cuts down on limescale deposits.

Clean but not tidy. I'm pretty good at cleaning the living room and dining room. We all help our 2 year old clean his room as he's learning that responsibility (toys away anyway). My wife is excellent and cleaning the kitchen, i've tried but it doesnt sparkle as much!

As we have 2 kids under 2 we generally have loads of plastic toys around the place. Stickers, magnets etc! we also have a small dishwasher that cant keep up with us anymore so we end up having some plates waiting for the next cycle to finish...

    Oh and clothes drying EVERYWHERE!

    Apart from that its lovely

It used to get into quite a state (as Rita Rudner said, you could eat your dinner off my floor - there's loads of food down there) but since getting a weekly cleaner it's never worse than a bit untidy, and I'm not particularly houseproud so I'm now always happy for people to drop by.
