I have now moved with a partner who freaks out when the house is untidy. He is very tidy and I am therefore putting more effort into it. I can now say that anyone can show up at anytime and it is likely to be make them feel inadequate!!!

My SIL doesn't like visiting me as my home makes her feel lazy, mine is spotless, including fridge, oven etc, cause I enjoy doing it and I fit it in cause I want to. She has other priorities and that's fine, it wouldn't do for us all to be the same.

Mine is reasonably clean and generally quite tidy. We don't have much stuff so that's probably why. DS's room is very untidy though!

I had a friend many years ago (lost contact now) who never hoovered. I have to say her house didn't look that bad!

    Not at all ATM.

Not since, um, last spring. I got ill in early summer, then the builders 'moved in' for four months, in the wettest summer on record, with dogs needing to go in and out, and me very ill. Dh did what he could at weekends, but frankly, it's still grubby, and it's taking a long while to get back in hand. We are sorting through some stuff ATM to through, clearing our junk, dong our best to sort our boxes and I have decided to have a local cleaning firm come in for a professional spring clean. I cannot wait!

Mine is clean because I'm fussy about cleanliness, but it isn't always tidy. It could be cleaner because l don't clean the floors every week, but there's no spills or anything, if there is l clean them in between times, l do Hoover and sweep them twice a week though, we're out at work all week.

    Happy moneysaving all.

    Spotless,clean,tidy and uncluttered..I
Have just scrubbed the garage floor, How sad is that..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Ours is minging today (Sunday) as I'm reclaiming it after 2 years of ill-health. I've got this week off and bought a new hoover - by next weekend it will be considerably less minging. I'm looking forward to taking a broom and evicting all the cobwebs which is the first thing on my agenda. The 9 cats will conspire to mess it up again but I'll aim to stay on top of it.

  • I think mine's ok . There will be dust but not noticeable . We have 4 cats so kitchen , utility benches + floors done daily . Loos etc daily . Bedrooms need a bit of decluttering soon but the public areas are fine . Going to get all the bedrooms sorted as soon as my cold has gone .

Right now the house is a dirty tip, because i am recovering from an operation and OH has been in sole charge since the beginning of December. It's utterly disgusting and embarrassing right now.

Considering you are recovering from an operation, that sounds really stressful.

If I were you, I'd write him a list of what needs doing. Men don't understand the concept of dusting or wiping out cupboards, or putting away washing etc. naturally. They have to be told.

When I've been in your position, I have created a list. Keep it simple, but make sure it's all on there. It's not as if you can't do anything (moral support and practical advice is always good).

You can't possibly expected to pick up all the backlog once you're recovered - it would be far too stressful.
