February 2013 Grocery Challenge

So I went to Boots yesterday as I got some £5 off £30 vouchers and realised I could use them to buy formula, which was unusual. Needed to go anyway cos OH and I both needed cough mixtures, painkillers, etc, so total spend came to £30.21, but with £5 voucher and another one I found for £2.50 off £10 healthcare, total spend came to £22.71. Then popped into Mr S and spent £3.53 on fish and potatoes for the baby. Total spend for the day was £26.24 and total spend so far this month is £129.77/£210.
While in Mr S, I got a £3 off £20 voucher. Going to go online now and see if this is worth my while or would going to Mr A or Mr T be cheaper without a voucher.
I'm so anal that during the week, I went online and made up a total shopping list of my typical monthly spend with Mr A and Mr T. I discovered that approx 50% of my groceries are cheaper at Mr A, 30% are cheaper at Mr T and the other 20% cost the same. Have split these groceries into two lists and decided to buy Mr A's cheaper goods one week and then go to Mr T the following week and buy their cheaper goods. It may have taken a few hours but I reckon it will be worth it in the long run!:DOverpay Mortgage by £9,100 in 2013 - £9,316.16/£9,100

Morning everyone,
Spent £46.06 last night at T's although £25 of that was a giftcard for DNephew whose birthday is coming up.
The £21.06 did include 4 toothbrushes which are so expensive.
We are off on holiday tomorrow, back Monday 25th in the evening. Will need f&v, milk and packed lunch bits when we return. Will be well under this month as holiday food is from holiday budget
I fully expect the March GC thread to be up and running whilst I'm away. Can I ask that budgets are posted up big and red please, as I'll be playing catch up when I return - thank you!
Lovely sunny day here in Kent. Hope those of you on half term manage to stay sane this week :rotfl:

My Dgs2 was looking forward to late breakfast of sausage baps, but his mum phoned to say picking him up earlier than planned and for him to be ready in 10 minutes and she couldnt stop.
Luckily the sausages were cooked and hes gone out the door with his baps wrapped in foil.A new slant on takeaway I think.Slimming World at target0 -
Afternoon everyone! It's a sunny day here in the East Midlands and it makes a change - strange to think that midweek last week we had snow and now it's sunny, dry and clear. The shopping list is now done, and it looks like this week is going to be a big shop. Oh well, had to happen some time!
I'm still hoping the shop comes to less than £25 - If I can get below that I'll be happy, but I'm not totally convinced it will. I need some more meat this week as I've pretty much used up my freezer stock (there is a pack of burgers in there that have been in since last summer's bbq but I can't bring myself to use them. It's a 10-pack and we couldn't eat that many in one go).
Today is definitely an NSD as we've got everything in that we need. There's no point in going out as I've got too many chores to do as it is! Main shop is tomorrow so will update more then. Tea tonight is going to be a Meat Feast Pasta Bake, using 2 sausages from the toad in the hole and a couple of rashers of bacon. Nice and easy.
Update so far for February:
Total spent so far in 2013 - £251.50
Remaining Budget for 2013 - £1548.50
Average per remaining month 2013 - £154.85
Looking at that it looks like it's going to be a struggle to make it. I also need to take a bit off that total for the remaining shops in February, so the monthly total will be slightly less. Hmm. A bit more frugalising needed, methinks!
Have a lovely weekend, everyone. Take care.

Hi everyone, I was panicking about my spend to date but realised I have done that old thing and bought double because DS is coming home for a few days - so frozen some and planned better for the week. Still likely to need more milk but that should be all and payday next Friday - March should be a six week month but we are going trudging in the north over Easter so actually only five (phew) and my annual budget means I should recoup a bit during hols away. Sig up to date.
I might actually start keeping up with this lovely thread again soon but not this month. Keep it up everyone, it really makes a difference

Only spent £45.39 this week. Only £15 of that at MrT, the smallest shop I've ever done there! I've decided to buy most of my meat in future at the butchers ( we don't eat alot )and spent £1.20 on lambs liver. Liver, bacon and mash - lovely.

Dd1 who is 10 has decided to go veggie so various soya mince n quorn items purchased. Made big batch of veggie bolognase today so will portion that up to use for lasagnas, spag bol n enchillatas for her.
Can I go slightly OT to say thanks for doing this?
I went veggie around her age and neither I nor my parents entirely knew what that really involved, so I mostly lived on pasta with tomato sauce, cheese sambos and "dinner without the meat bit". Not the healthiest, and I ended up going back to being a reluctant omnivore by my late teens on doctors orders as I'd ended up running my health into the ground through ignorance (B12? What's that all about? :rotfl:)
Another €20 to my total. Took advantage of some MrT coupons and bought a few cleaning bits that I don't quite need yet, but got an extra 25 points for each. Assorted dairy and gluten free bits for cooking for guests and even more veg. I'm going to turn green one of these days!
Matzo ball soup for a rather late lunch, taken from the freezer. Coddle for dinner using bits from the freezer and veg drawer. Loaf of wholemeal in breadmaker. Really need to put together a vague meal plan for this week today.0
