  • Can people not read .... this is not a thread raised to disagree with the bank charges

I THINK WE ALL AGREE THEY ARE OBSCENE ......

you keep falling back on this statement because you can not defend those who take money from the bank without permission

ILL SAY IT ONE MORE TIME

BANK CHARGES ARE OBSCENE , TOO EXPENSIVE , A RIP OFF , A CON

    THEIR PROFITS ARE A DISGRACE.

this is not the arguement, if you dont like the charges why open the account , the fees are laid down in black and white as you open the account
  • I agree. However, i think that a charge of say £10 is justified not £35.

As for being charged to have a bank account. Do you not think that this will affect all of us and not just those who have never claimed their charges back. If banks bring in monthly/yearly charge for having a bank account, it will be to all, not just the chosen few.

  • i was not going to reclaim bank charges as there were not that many and because I had often had them reversed anyway

(my trick was to go into the branch 5 minutes before closing time and be slow, and annoyingly polite about wanting them to explain the charge over and over again because i didnt understand, they reversed the charge to get me out so they could go home basically)

But today, I opened this months statement to find that I am being charged £28 for being overdrawn. Not for weeks or days even, for a matter of hours!!

I noticed that the account was overdrawn by an entire £3 and paid it into the bank the same day the account went overdrawn.

How on earth can the banks justify this??? there was not even the costly sum of sending me a letter to notify me that would justify a £28 charge for this as the bank informs you along with your monthly statement. And there is no labour cost to the bank either as it is a standard part of the statement that usually (fortunately) says charges are £0.00

I am definately going to go ahead with claiming back charges, because this is totally unjustified, and I wonder how many times previously I have just paid it because I felt that it was my own fault and I should have been more careful
PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTS

DEBT FREE DATE 29th MAY 2010...... CANT WAIT!!!!
  • yes £10 is a fair price for a bank i feel , its been mentioned that it will be set at £12.

and soon we will be paying for our banking again.

i wouldnt bother ringing your banks for a week or two after martins program tonight , their customer services will be bogged down for weeks now.

debt is a nightmare, it escalates and lives are ruined by it, but many of those following martins advice have spent spent spent , on themselves , too many nights out , that new car , the clothes , the plasma , the 360 , the holiday

and you know its true , want want want .... greed greed greed

or is everyone in debt because they couldnt afford the meals on their tables

    yeh right.

youll get your money back ok ..... but your children will pay it back to the banks

    I PROMISE YOU

Madisons mum on a number of posts you have claimed that people don't know what it is like to be in debt. If you read the posts, the people had all said they had been in debt.

Pehaps some of you would do well to learn the meaning of a contingency fund.

It's a means of sorting out your OWN problems yourself, without being carried by someone else.

As an example, sell that 01 reg car and get an older one and pay of your debt with the remainder.

When I first left home and was living in a bedsit, I actually took my beloved records and record player to the locall second-hand shop to be able to pay the rent.

As a ninteen year old, believe me, it hurt!!

  • MM explain what ...is it that complicated for you

if you are in debt you have lived beyond your means

i dont care how ....... through supporting your family or overspending on luxury, who cares

but you have lived beyond your means

Wouldn't suprise me if there wasn't a test case. Then you wont get to claim it back, just the difference. Which I thinks fair.
