How to stop toddler hitting and throwing things at mum?

I feel sorry for those poor kids whose parents dont believe in discipline. They get such a shock when they start school and either the other kids hit them back, or teacher doesnt do hugs and kisses when they play up!
There is a huge gulf between not believing in discipline and not believing in particular punishments.
There are a lot of ways to teach behaviours (of which discipline is a part). Different methods work better or worse with different children (and parents). Some methods are more effective than others.0 -

With regards to the person who suggested looking at why he hits mom and not dad and behaviour displayed. Sorry but what a load of crap in my opinion. My daughter lashed out at me as I was the person home most of the time, I'm the :pone who says 'no' more often and I'm the one that is her constant. Children lash out as they have no means or way of expressing or understanding what is acceptable. It is up to the person they are raised by to instil values of what is right and wrong, children are not born with that knowledge. Not every child lashes out because the person around them has displayed violent or aggressive behaviour!
I suggested looking at the reason, and its so much crap that its just what you did, and you came to the conclusion you did. And that's fine, it could be your little one saw it at playschool or somewhere else. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0
