Thanks Mum2one, you've given me a great idea. I have lots of odds and ends of fabric laying around that I didn't know what to do with. I will sew together some stockings with them xx

    Hi fushialady xx

Mum2one, you inspired me this morning so I have made a start on the book bags, I have three of them up there ready to do, one was a paper back, was harder to get all the pages out of that but managed to stick some mount board on the cover pages inside to reinforce them and they dont look too bad. Have stuck half the lining in on one of them, leaving it for the glue to dry till tomorrow. Doubt I will do any of the others now today as want to watch the tennis this afternoon. I did get the manicure sets done for the stall though so crossing things off my list of things to do.

rufus I love the sound of the manicure sets are they easy to make? I'm having to sew by hand, as sewing machine back of the cupbaord and dining rm full of flat pack furniture!
Got some bits of material thinking of doing some make-up brush wraps, and gadget cases, - figured they'd be easy to hand sew.

Plan 2ngt - cut the rest of the fabric up then fri get them all stuck together (sit outside!), and stink them out with the glue, x

Mum2one, they were quite easy but I used my sewing machine. What I did, got piece of A4 paper, laid out the bits from the manicure set on the paper and then drew a smaller rectangle around them so that it left me about an inch more across the top and bottom and 2 inches either side (approx, doesnt have to be exact). Then I took the bits off and cut out the rectangle, then rounded off the edges one side so it looks like a logated C shape. Now cut out three pieces of this from fabric, I used three different fabrics. Get one piece and fold in half longways and press with iron then take one of the other pieces for lining and lay this folded bit across the bottom half, pin and tack it around the outer edges. Next lay the manicure bits across again and mark with pins where you need to sew for the pockets, stitch along the lines. Now place the other piece you have left on top of the lining so it is wrong side up (both right sides will be facing each other) and pin around the edge, then sew around the edge leaving an opening across the top about 2 inches to turn it through. Once turned, press well and place the bits in the pockets then fold it up and mark where to sew on a press stud (or velcro).
