Hi everyone
Welcome Madz and Echo to our cheery group
Like the drawings Echo, they have turned out really well. One of my friends used to draw people from real life or photos and put them into local scenes, sell them as presents.
Rufus, that dress and fascinator are gorgeous, I like the style, will look great with your jacket.
I never considered gettting anything to eat for the £2 so thanks Sugarspun for the inspiration.
Susan what did you do in your art group this week?
Re my strange fall downstairs. On Wednesday I went to the doctors as the pain seemed to get worse. Haematoma and bad bruising. Later that eveningt I went out and didn't drink much, went back to my house with the same chap from that infamous Saturday. I felt fine. We had some amaretto and straight away I started feeling a bit strange. The next morning - yesterday - I felt really sick and had a terrible headache, worse than I'd had in a long time. I was ok by the afternoon. Yesterday evening I was out again, drinking tea, had a couple of ciders as the last place I went doesn't do hot drinks and I felt ok although a bit headachey.
So either drink in general doesn't agree with me anymore, or it's something to do with the amaretto because on the day with the stairs I had a glass before I left the house.
Anyone know anything about diverticulitis? Normally a couple times a year mum has a bad episode where she collapses with the sudden onset on pain, sometimes ends up in hospital, there is bleeding etc.
Three weeks ago she found herself on the ground, not realising she had fallen down. A few days ago she had another episode, luckily dad was with her, I only found out by accident yesterday afternoon, they decided they didn't want to tell me.
The doctors don't seem to know what is going on, no remedy for the extreme pain when it does come on.
Anyone had experience with this either themselves or with someone in the family or friends?
Dad was putting cold flannels on her, she was using smelling salts when it happened this time. He wanted to call an ambulance she refused as whenever she does end up in hospital, that's usually when the pain is subsiding, the worst is when it first comes on.0 -
Welcome Madz and Echo - you're both putting me to shame already - lots of ideas here but very little action
.
Madz - that canvas looks like a good deal, have bought a few from Tesco (only when on offer of course) but yours sounds better so will have to take a look.
Echo - the pics are really sweet, definitely good for children's books.
Rufus - the jacket sounds fabulous and I love that you've made it your own by adding the flower, I never think of things like that. Any chance of a picture?
Mum2one - I'd forgotten about the £2 challenge too so big thanks to you and Miss H for reminding us and also extending it. Something to look forward to now - buying something splendid just for me and getting a bargain at the same time!
Anglea - your two experience are really strange but if the Amaretto is the only common factor could you try an experiment to see if it happens if you drink it again (but not in the company of any of the people who were with you the last two times)? Don't know much about diverticulitis so can't help there but it sounds very scary for your mum and dad and for you too. Hope the medics come up with some answers soon.
Had a minor panic just now as went to post and the forums were down. Took some deep breaths and happily they came up again quickly. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Here is a photo of the outfit with the jacket. Just need a necklace and bag now. Had a look while out today but couldnt find a necklace. Bought some fabric to make a bag, will have a go anyway lol.
Anglea, my Dad suffers from that diverticulitis, if I have got the right thing that is, is it where you get tiny pockets on your colon or somewhere in your digestive route which can become inflamed if the food particles get caught in them? He has never suffered anything like your Mum is going through though. Was told it is quite common in the elderly and they gave him a diet sheet of what helps the condition, only thing he has changed really is he has started to eat yoghurts which he had never eaten in his life as he always said they were milk that had gone off lol0 -
Afternoon everyone. The wind is blowing a gale here and that always makes me a little on edge. Brr it's cold today! I thought I'd post my effort to the £2 challenge. Crumpets & a small tub of butter. That will give me a lovely breakfast, snack or pick me up a few times and it was lovely to eat some for lunch today.
That's about it, update-wise for me. Hope everyone has a nice evening.

Thank you for the kind comments, has made my day
I will get some decent paper (I've only done these on copier paper from work) and have a go at one for my friend. See how I get on....it's nerve wracking - I've never given anything I had actually made as a present before!
Lovely outfit Rufus, hope that you find a necklace soon.
And hope that you feel better soon Anglea - that sounds awful.
Thank goodness it's the weekend! Maybe it will even stop raining....?!?Sealed Pot Challenge - No. 117

Echo - those pics are gorgeous
Rufus - Your outfit looks lovely, with a necklace what about going for ribbon instead of a traditional chain, and maybe use pearl type beads in colours from the jacket
Angela - Def sounds weird that it happened again - as the others have said couls you try the drink (without the man) so if any reaction happens you know.
Sugarspun - love the icecream - good idea - def a treat!!
KB - Crumpets and butter - could just eat them know, - toppped with bit of raspberry jam or golden syrup.
Hope everyone ok and not having too many fun and games with the weather, we had about 4in snow last night although some of it has melted today, but been snowing since mid afternoon and theyve forecast heavy tonight.
My friends had her ghost hunting cancelled tonight, but we dont know about 2mor, - thou coz of the distance her and her hubby staying over in nearby hotel.
Spoke to the company and they won't know till 2mor whether there cancelling xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Hi all
Rufus, thanks for the lovely photo I like it that we are seeing ongoing steps towards the final outfiit.
Strange that your dad has been given a diet sheet, mum has never had one and on occasions she had been rushed to hospital with it, was given a menu with all the normal food but all she could eat was those milk shake type things you get in cartons from the chemist.
I went out this afternoon, saw mum then popped into the pub for a tea, none of the usual crowd around so went home. Yes, I will try the amaretto tonight as I'm stopping in - will tell you how I feel tomorrow.
Might be cursing lol if I do have bad headache.
Echo, re the drawing for a present. I don't know if you ever tried this but if you are doing it from a photo then I find it very easy if you turn it upside down, that way you aren't expecting it to look exactly like the child (and panic), instead it's as though you are drawing shapes.0 -
Anyone tried making this for a gift or party?

I wondered if they looked good in real life or not0 -
Ribbon is a great necklace idea!
