Well I got a bargain yesterday, went in the charity shop and found a lovely jacket for the wedding, was £7 but its gorgeous, pink and cream fleck, and I can wear it with jeans and t shirt too so will get worn. Made a flower/brooch to go on it, so thats nearly the outfit sorted. Just want to make a bag to go with the whole thing, I have a pattern for one that is patchwork, need to get a couple more scraps of fabric in the right colours to tie everything in. Also need to get a necklace.

Going out with ED on Friday, plenty of charity shops in the town where we are going so will have a good look while there. Need to get a bunch of flowers too for ExMil, its her birthday Saturday. Also want to have a look in my favourite fabric shop as its moved premises and is supposed to be larger now.

Dont really have any other birthdays coming up to worry about (except mine next month lol). Next one to buy for is YD's 18th in July and I have started saving the £2 coins for that. Also got her the pair of converses. OH's is in August so hoping I will have plenty of time to mount up a stash of Amazon vouchers by then. This last month or so I have been giving him all the vouchers I have earned to pay him back the money for my new sewing machine. I just have to pay £15 now and then I can start saving them again.

Hi everyone , welcome to the newbies who it seems already got the hang of money saving.

Echo - welcome glad your tagging along. Those book sound good prices. I get the email daily for books and the post puts me off. I have a thing about postage but the books are great value arnt they

Have a free day today , no hospitals , don't need shopping, don't know what to do with myself lol. I'm crafted out ... Suppose I could tidy the craft room , save things in there as they come in handy and what a mess ....

Hope you had a good day!

Re postage there are 2 ladies at work who also like book people so we can sometimes go in together to get the order over the threshold for free delivery.

I'm getting into drawing at the moment, just little ones of dd. Good feedback so far (unless people are just being kind... I think they are genuine) so am going to keep practicing and try to do one of my friend's little boy for Christmas.... Would that be a nice present? Could post some photos of what I have done so far?

Been invited to pre Christmas "Christmas" with friends (early planning or what?!) and they are very good at making lovely things so am keen to reciprocate. Only trouble is that I can't actually make anything!! Can't knit or crochet, have no sewing machine. Hmmmm, possibly edibles might be the way forwards. At least time on my side!

Rufus- that sounds a good bargain. I haven't found anything in charity shops for ages .. Don't know whether its me being picky or our shops not being very good. Try to go in often as I want a scrabble set. Not to play but to make things with . So don't want to pay a lot. I did get a jacket on flea bay, it came yesterday and it was just white designer military style . Am didn't pay much for it. I was the only bidder. Photos wasn't great but took chance on designer. It was a size smaller than I needed as well . Lol. And I tried it on and it perfect , I love it... I know it sounds insane but I remember going for a personal shopping experience and the lady bought some clothes, hung them up for me to try and I remember saying to DD about one particular thing , looks like a rag to clean house. Well I tried it on with the 100's of other clothes loved it and has now be worn that much it's in pieces.

Echo bunny - I think that would be a lovely present. I would certainly love to have it , as regards seeing pictures I love looking at things people have done. I paint with watercolours. I don't think I'm very good but have be en asked to do three exhibitions which I've done. And I have another in September . They're not exhibitions to sell pictures just to show ( no selling allowed) but I live in hope that one day someone will buy a picture ... It's just a dream . And I enjoy it so that's the main. I think you should do it , but don't put to much pressure on yourself , we are so often too critical of ourselves

As regards planning early echo bunny , I plan all year starting Boxing Day with boots sale. So you can never be too early.
I did have a nice day I suppose, went to the pound shop , bought some solar lights to turn into north poles for my christmas village.
I been looking for candy canes everywhere I used all mine. They should be out about now with a sell by date past christmas.

I did manage to get 6 cadburys caramel eggs for a £1 and 8 creme eggs for £1 in home bargs . Need them for my Easter pots of gold and night in at the movies.

The jacket sounds nice Susan and well done for getting in a smaller size. I am going round some new charity shops tomorrow ( well ones I dont visit very often) so hoping I might find some more bargains. Now I am a smaller size I am finding more things available.

I usually start on making my Christmas presents in January but havent started anything yet. Dont know what to give anyone this year as they have just about had everything I make.

For the competition, I bought myself an almond and cherry ice cream.

    It was delicious.
