Hope you don't mind me joining in, I've been doing weight watchers since October last year and had lost 6.5 lbs before Christmas. Put a bit back on in December but feel ready to get going again now. My mini goal is to lose 5 lbs by my birthday in February, then I'd like to have lost another 10 by May 25th for a friend's wedding. As an aside I'd like to get as light as is healthy for me as it will help to improve my running speed; I'm doing the loch ness marathon in October! I don't go to meetings but use a great android app, it was free on the Google store but now you can only get it on Amazon app store for 64p as WW are moaning about copyright infringement. I don't want to seem like I'm advertising so let me know if you want to know what its called! My main challenge I think will be eating WW friendly foods but sticking to quite a low food budget too.

    My weight today: 156.5lbs

Very impressed by you doing the marathon - I couldn't run for a bus at the moment! I've tried downloading the official WW app before but not managed it. I'm not great with mobiles though so will get my son to have a go for me.

I didn't get a chance to discuss goals with my leader today as the class was so busy. Started at 10am and it was around 11.30 when I left. I assume they are paid on some sort of commission basis and get paid more if they have more members so she must be doing well!

    Hi noelphonic
Firstly yes leaders are paid partly by how many members come through the door, they don't get all that much per person.
With regards to discussing a goal weight - most leaders will not discuss a goal weight until you are close to the top end of your healthy BMI, she/he should have given you your 1st target of either 7lb OR your 5% target.

The first target wasn't discussed but I'm not too worried about that. I've lost over a stone already doing it online anyway. I think the class is just so busy at the moment that it is hard to give anyone individual attention and I can see it must be hard work. I would be more worried if I was new to the plan.

    Are you a leader?

All the classes are really busy just now, the one I am in on a Saturday is crazy busy, we had 9 new members this morning and the same last week as well.
I was a leader up until August last year - I had to give up due to my full time work commitments or I would still be doing it as I loved it! I am a member assistant still though which is good fun!

Evening all quite pleased tonight it's my first week on weight watchers and i was a bit worried because we were going for meal and i didn't want to mess up, we had a carvery and i had turkey with lots of veg and a couple of boiled potatoes, i scanned the menu full of chips cheese and fatty sauces and decided this was the best option, i also drank water rather than the usual sugary lemonade, i enjoyed it and feel happy to have had a nice meal and all within my points.

Aww thank you! I've done 2 before but want to get faster this year, and marathon training tends to make me fat... Well it's not the training but the 'rewards' for 15 mile training runs! I figured I wouldn't be able to use the official app as I'm not a member, so have gone for a cheeky copy instead, I love the convenience of it, so I'm sure the official one would have the same benefit for you!

as long as you don't eat them all at once!

I've actually had my 5 a day today. I know I can have more but I don't want to. I've got 4 points left and I'm trying to decide how to 'spend' them.

If you're within your points and you've also done a lot of walking you should be fine.
